Lazy Black Diamond Ranch

Lazy Black Diamond Ranch Glause Family - Registered Angus Since 1951 ~ Palmer, NE ~ Production Sale Last Saturday in February

Loy Glause and his brothers, Black Diamond Ranch, purchased their first registered Angus heifer in 1951. Later, Loy branched off on his own and continued breeding black Angus cattle as Lazy Black Diamond Ranch (LBDR). Loy's sons, Kevin, Galen, Brian, & Clayton, continued LBDR as the second generation. In 2010, Galen's son, Morgan, invested in the herd and is now the third generation involved with

the operation. 2023 marks the 72nd year the Glause Family has been selling registered Angus cattle. Our cow herd continues to be the corner stone of our program. We strive to focus on maternal genetics that yield problem-free, productive cattle that can thrive with the resources available to us. Decades of selection has helped us build a cow herd with consistent, predictable genetics, all while fulfilling the end market expectations of our consumers.

Passing to the next Generation

Dear, cattlemen and women my name is Morgan Glause. For those of you that don’t know who Lazy Black Diamond Ranch is and what we provide is why I write this letter. I will try and help our repeat customers and our new customers, to gain the knowledge of our operation and to describe a little of the future as we move forward.

Lazy Black Diamond Ranch (LBDR) is a registered pure bred black Angus cow calf operation. LBDR offers bulls for sale private treaty throughout the year. The inventory consist of yearling bulls, 2 year old bulls, and open replacement quality heifers sold early-mid January every year at Huss Livestock Market in Kearney NE. LBDR pinpoints for moderate frame, good muscled type of cattle. We look for consistency and uniformity in our cattle, along with easy keeping type. Docility in our cattle is a major part of our program and genetics, a nervous or wild cattle don’t last long in the operation.

My grandfather, Loy Glause, was in the cattle business a long time. He worked along side with his family by buying their first Angus cattle in 1951 down closer to Worms NE known as Black Diamond Ranch. In the later years to come he branched off to buy his own property near Palmer NE, started his own family and operation he then had to change the name. With the help from my great grandmother came the name Lazy Black Diamond Ranch in the early 70’s “ rumor has it that some guys must have been Lazy”.

The years pass by fast and kids grow up fast, so came along my uncle Kevin and my father Galen. Working their way into the operation, with a couple of their brothers Kevin took charge along help with the bothers after my grandfather passing from cancer in 2010. In the mist of this generation passing, I took my first steps into the Angus business by buying some heifers from my Grandparents. I continued my full time job and helped with cattle as I could.
