🎃 How I Roast & PurĂ©e Pie Pumpkins (Air Fryer!)—and Freeze for Later

Yes, you can air fry a whole pie pumpkin (as long as it fits in your basket). It makes the silkiest puree for pies, breads, and muffins—all season long! You’ll need: small pie/baking pumpkin(s), an air fryer, quart zip bags, and a marker.

Air-Fry Method (Whole Pumpkin) Cooks Hard pie pumpkins in record time.

Prep: Wash and dry the pumpkin. Use a sharp paring knife to carefully pierce the skin in several places to allow steam to escape while it bakes. Place it whole in the air fryer basket (stem on is fine).

Air fry: ~25 minutes for a 2-lb pumpkin on “Roast/Air Fry.” Time varies by pumpkin size & air-fryer power—start checking early.

Check doneness: It’s ready when a fork/knife pierces easily.
Cool: Let it cool until comfy to handle.

Purée: Split open, scoop out seeds, then scoop flesh into a processor/blender and blend until smooth.

Freeze: Portion 2 cups per bag (≈ one 15-oz can), press flat, label & freeze. Hello, grab-and-bake convenience!

Tips for Success
Choose pie/sugar pumpkins (sweeter, less watery than carving pumpkins).

If your model needs it, you can just preheat first.
Big pumpkin? Could you quarter it and reduce the time?
For pies, blot watery puree and measure by weight (425 g / 15 oz).
Storage: Fridge 3–4 days ‱ Freezer up to 6 months (best within 3).
