Glenwood Farm Glenwood Farm is an historic property and small family farm in Fluvanna County, Virginia.

We raise heritage breed Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, as well as heirloom garlic and green beans, and our free range hens produce lots of eggs!

DIY fertilizer. When you pull weeds, put them in a barrel and fill with water. Cover with lid and never seal it though. After a minimum two weeks, the weeds break down and nutrients are in the water. Mix with some water and fertilize with it. If you were to seal it, like in a jar, it grows germs like ecoli. Just set a lid on it and wait. That’s one more product you don’t have to buy!

Been too long since we posted. At historic Glenwood, we try to do as much with as little as possible. Here are photos of trees that either fell or were felled for safety reasons turned into raised beds. We then backfilled with composted wood chips.
