❗The delivery from BAKA - Artisan Breads and Pastries has arrived!

The special bake this week is made with organic wheat and our "A Wale's Tale" white cheddar, a 2-year-aged Welsh cheese. The cheese is mixed in with a bit of everything bagel seasoning, making it deliciously savory!

These bakes are only available at both of our stores while supplies last. We get deliveries on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Sigona's started as a roadside fruit stand in Morgan Hill in 1975. We meet and know our farmers, we source the best from suppliers and we know quality when we see, smell, taste and touch it.

Our two stores on the San Francisco Peninsula have grown to meet the needs of our community by including specialty, gourmet foods and more, all while keeping our old-fashioned, outdoor market and corner-grocer feel.

In addition to our produce, some of our best-sellers include:

- Seafood (available at our RWC store only)

Great tips for pear lovers!

Firm and crisp or soft and juicy? Whatever you pear-fer, there's a variety for that.

🍐 Are you a baker? Bosc is for you, it holds its shape and turns sweeter in the oven.
🍐 Do you like to bite into a firm, crisp, slightly tart pear? Anjou is your pear.
🍐 Can you be found with juice dripping down your chin after devouring one? You're likely a Bartlett person.

It's pear season at Sigona's! Did you know that at the peak of the season, Sigona's can have more than 10 varieties of pears?

Here are some tips from Robbie Sigona for your picking and storing:

🍐Much like avocados or bananas, pears ripen best off the tree. A pear is ripe when it is just soft to the touch and yields slightly to gentle pressure at the neck; it should also be aromatic.
🍐When purchasing a pear, select a firm, smooth specimen with little to no bruising.
🍐Store pears loose at room temperature; popping pears in a brown bag may hasten ripening, but keep an eye on them so they don’t get overripe.
🍐Once fully ripe, consume quickly.
🍐A ripe pear will keep for a few days in the refrigerator.

🥖 New Vendor Alert! Some of you already know and love sourdough by BAKA - Artisan Breads and Pastries, and some of you are about to become big fans!

We are now getting fresh loaves of sourdough -- even some made with cheeses from our stores -- on Fridays. Our specialty foods buyer, John Uhl, says these are some of the best sourdough loaves he's ever tasted. They're fluffy, flavorful and incredible when toasted.
