A few pictures of the morning harvest and crush. Thanks to my w**e buddy Mike Falvey. At 6'6"He really comes in handy with that wingspan, dumping buckets and quality control in the hopper. I have added the yeast and the fermentation has started. We got about 400 lbs of fruit this year. The birds have been having a buffet the last 2 weeks.

Out checking grapes this morning getting ready to harvest and make some Sangiovese w**e , (who has clean feet?). The honeybees are out early on the elegant tarweed. The little native bees spent the night on the flower.

Today we checked our bees at our home apiary. We do varroa mite checks 2-3 times per year to monitor. We have had excellent results the past couple of years working with genetics and using oxalic acid v***r and extended release pads. We have been able to keep the mites in check. I have included a picture in comments of a hive started late spring with no treatment, 12 mites in 300 bees.
We tested 9 hives.
7 had strips and we had 1 mite in 7 tests.
2 hives had 0 treatments, Caucasians had 12 mites
The Golden West had 0 mites!
I have my eye on a couple breeder queen's for next spring.

This morning I started out by picking Sungold tomatoes and zucchini. Then, I hauled the rest of the fruits and veggies out of the fridge and started in. See pictures for details! I’m ready for a nap. Green beans will have to wait until tomorrow!

I don't mind sharing some grape juice with the bees.
A bird or a Yellowjacket will pick or eat a hole in a grape and then the honeybee sucks up the juice. There's not a lot of nectar out there so drink 🍷.
