Not enough people are growing anemones and we think that needs to change. 🌺

The Anemone Coronaria Hollandia is a scarlet red, poppy-like flower with a deep dark center that stops you in your tracks. It grows 8 to 10 inches tall, blooms in April and May, and works just as well in a container on the porch as it does in a border or cutting garden.

It is deer resistant, easy to grow in full sun to partial shade, and the blooms have a great vase life for cut arrangements. Soak the corms a few hours before planting and they will do the rest. 🌿

If you want a cutting garden flower that actually earns its spot, ranunculus is it. 🌼

The Yellow Ranunculus puts out big double blooms with layers of petals and long lacy leaves that look just as good in a vase as they do in the ground. They grow 18 to 24 inches tall, bloom from late spring into midsummer, and have a long vase life that makes them one of the better cut flowers you can grow at home. Full sun, zones 8 to 10, and they ship now through June 15th so there is still time

Have you ever heard of a Rain Lily? If not, let us introduce you. 🌸

Zephyranthes Robustus is a pink rain lily that does something most flowers don't. Every time it gets a good watering or a rain comes through, it puts out a fresh flush of blooms. That cycle repeats over three to four weeks in late summer and early fall. It grows 6 to 12 inches tall, does well in full sun to partial shade, and works great in garden beds or containers. If you are in Eastern NC, it is perfectly suited to our climate. 🌧️

A good spring rain can help the fields, but too much at once means extra work afterward. 🌧️

After a heavy storm rolls through, get out and walk your rows as soon as you can. Check for standing water and get it moving before roots start sitting in it too long. If any stems got knocked down by wind, gently stake them back up while they are still flexible.

For bulbs like dahlias or gladiolus that are just getting established, soggy soil is one of the fastest ways to lose them. A little attention the morning after a storm goes a long way. 🌱

We love seeing our blooms in action. chose our fresh cut peonies for their prom this year, and the setup speaks for itself. Candlelight, string lights, and a peony in full bloom. Hard to top that.

Mother's Day is coming up, and fresh-cut peonies might be the best gift you can give. 🌸

These are field grown right here on the farm and cut fresh for you to take home. You really can't beat a peony in full bloom sitting in a vase on the table. They are only available in store so you'll want to come out before they're gone. 💐

If you want blooms all summer, gladiolus are hard to beat. 🌸

They grow tall, come in clean bright colors, and make some of the easiest cut flowers you'll ever work with. ✂️ If you've got a sunny patch, give them a try this season. We ship bulbs through June 15 so there is still time to get them in the ground.

Local folks, the tulip bloom should be on next week. It has been a challenging growing year with late planting due to wet weather in January and very warm and dry conditions thereafter. All this to say that we don't expect the kind of show we had last year - but you can still see blooms and find some nice areas for photo opps.
Some notes:
- Please be careful. You can view from the side of the road or pull in the driveways on either end of the field and park if you want to get out and look around.
-Please do not pick or trample the flowers. If you pick them they can't be enjoyed by others. We do not sell cut tulips here but if you have to score some you can check out our relatives at Petals and Produce.
- Our showroom will open after the first of April . Hours are 9a-4p Mon-Fri and 10a-2p on Sat. We are closed on Sundays.
