Goats doing goat things!

Our recent purchase of goats headed to a pasture near by! This is our first time loading them on a trailer so used our loading area to get them in. Royal did most of the work as when one tried to run off, he was quick to get it back in line. Being able to stand and watch him work is night and day different from how we used to load đŸ¤ª.

Goats were hard at working getting an area you could barely walk through knocked back to a manageable level. What would take hours of manual labor, the goats were happy to eat their way through.

Meet our newest addition to our trailer fleet! As our goat herd continually increases we were in desperate need of a larger trailer. It’s now had its first maiden voyage and hauled 80 does and kids easily.

Royal is a pro at loading these goats up. They were a bit hesitant but he was not going to let anyone get by him. So thankful to have this guy by our side.

Goats are busy grazing this fence line full of poison ivy and other brush. They knock back the vegetation making it easier to get in afterwards with some manual clean up. The trick to grazing a fence line is to be able to run our portable electric fence on both sides so goats have access to the whole fence. The goats have finished off this section of the fence line and are ready to move on to the next!

Goats seem to love all the prickly and pokey plants! This particular vine has a way of snagging at your clothes as you walk by. Super prickly to try and disengage from it. It’s very satisfying to see the goats completely destroy it.

Sweet momma has the waddle down! Cannot wait to see if we will have a bull calf or a little heifer!

This girl is ready to pop any day! We are so excited to have a baby calf on the farm!!! Keeping fingers crossed for smooth delivery. This will be the cows 3rd calf.

Without Royal, our border collie, we would have seriously struggled this past month. He has helped us so much with herding goats in the middle of the night after the tornado to moving animals from paddock to paddock while we clean up. So thankful to have this guy by our side through all of the chaos.
