We will be hosting a tour for the Indiana Fruit and Nut Growers meeting this weekend.

Saturday September 19 meet at the Newberry Friend's Church next to Karen Padgett's House https://maps.app.goo.gl/tFWizMQxEHjxjd6y9?g_st=ac to enjoy a carry-in lunch (BYO bagged lunch) and explore the beauty of Karen Padgett's botanical garden. We will travel from there to the Orange County
Community Garden (202 Cherry St, Paoli, IN) for a brief tour of their hickory, hican, pecan, and fruit trees. We will then proceed to Brambleberry Farm (1638 E County Road 100 N, Paoli, IN).

• 11:00 am — Arrive
• 11:30 am — BYO Lunch at Padgett’s Botanical Garden
• 12:30 pm — Orange County Community Garden
• 1:30 pm — Brambleberry Farm

Due to the multiple locations and travel time, there will be no auction at the fall meeting.

An IU Woodland Tree Walk with Ross Gay and Darren Bender-Beauregard
The Tree School Presents… An IU Woodland Tree Walk with Our Guides:
Ross Gay, IU poet writer, professor, and gardener
Darren Bender-Beauregard, ecological farmer, agroforestry, and co-founder of Brambleberry Permaculture Farm

Join us for a celebratory walk, guided by Ross Gay and Darren Bender-Beauregard, through the IU Woodland Campus, visiting several of our marvelous tree teachers, including persimmons, pawpaws, and other fruits of the woodland and moving in conversation with poetic ecologies and how we engage with cultivating wildness in ourselves and the living world around us.

What to Bring
Not required but encouraged: a walking stick, a writing stick, a water bottle, and a notebook.

Rain Policy
In the event of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled. Registration is not required, though much appreciated.

Azola is a great feed supplement and treat for chickens! It's also called fairy moss or mosquito fern, because it grows so thick on top of the water that it supposedly keeps mosquitoes from laying eggs. It grows quickly in warm weather and cleans the water in ponds and stock tanks. But where can you get this magical plant? Why, at Brambleberry Farm! Just $5 for a handful. FYI, it is not hardy over winter here, but you can just overwinter a handful in a jar on your windowsill as seed for next year.

Our newest inventory video is up on YouTube! Link in the comments. Pictured are one of my favorite wetland plants, pickerel w**d. This friend is both native and edible! It's a very pretty emergent plant, preferring muddy soil or shallow water. The entire plant is edible, but the seeds are the more commonly used part. We have it available in quart pots for $9

We'll be closed this weekend, resuming regular hours on Tuesday. We'll have one more open Saturday, June 6th, before we start summer/fall hours. Summer/fall hours are just Tuesdays 9-5 and Fridays 11-5, but we can make appointments for other days/times as needed.

Head over to YouTube for our latest inventory video! The goumi berries are ripe right now and we're stuffing our faces every time we pass the bushes. They're tart but delicious. We have a new variety called 'Wang Bo' that we're working on getting propagated for you. It has bigger berries even than 'Carmine,' and is non-astringent with a milder flavor. ’Wang Bo' is better for fresh eating, but I still prefer the stronger flavored Carmine for jams/jellies. Right now we just have little seedlings of 'Wang Bo' available (unlikely to be true to type), and we're working on building up stock plants to propagate clones from cuttings.
