Meet Liesel!💛

We have some BIG news around here!

If you’ve been following along, you know we have been really low on milk lately. We actually had to make a couple trips over to our friends at Twin Springs to get milk just so we could keep our farm store open.

But in the middle of their extra milk and our shortage, they were able to offer us a long-term solution…

This sweet girl!

Meet Liesel (previously named Emma) our new Brown Swiss! And yes, she’s named after Liesl from The Sound of Music. Because obviously, if you’re going to have a Brown Swiss, she needs a Sound of Music name.🫶🏻😍

I’ve always wanted a Brown Swiss. We’ve always been a Jersey farm, and I absolutely love our Jerseys, but there has always been something about Brown Swiss that I thought was so special.

Now that we have one, I can officially say… I was right. She is an absolute dream.

Brown Swiss are known for being incredibly calm and docile, and Liesel is already proving that to be true. She has such a sweet personality, and we are completely smitten with her.

And even better—Liesel is A2, just like the rest of our girls! ❤️

We know how important that is to so many of you, because it’s important to us, too. So we are thrilled to have her joining our herd.

And after being so painfully low on milk…

WE ARE NOW SWIMMING IN IT. 😂🥛

So if you’ve been wanting milk and kept finding us sold out, come on by! We have plenty right now, and we’d love to fill your jars.

We’re also adding a few new goodies to the farm store over the next few days, so be sure to stop in and see what’s new!

🥛 A little update to our milk pricing & jar system!

We’re making a small change to how we handle our glass milk jars here at Rose n’ Thistle Farm!

We’ve been using a jar deposit system, but we’ve found that keeping track of deposits and waiting for jars to make their way back to the farm has become a little tricky. So we’re simplifying things!

Going forward:

🥛 $8 per ½ gallon when you need a jar
♻️ $6 per ½ gallon when you bring back a clean, ready-to-use ½-gallon jar

There will no longer be a jar deposit or jar credits to keep track of.

Here’s the important part:

The $2 discount is given when you bring a jar back with you.

If you come to the farm store without a jar to return, the price is $8 per ½ gallon. That $8 includes the jar you take your milk home in.

Bring a jar → $6
No jar → $8

So please don’t feel like you can take a jar today for $6 and simply bring it back “next time.” 😊 The discounted price is specifically for customers who bring a jar with them to exchange at that visit.

Returned jars should be:
• Clean and ready to use
• With the lid
• Free of cracks, chips, or damage

We hope this makes the system much simpler for everyone and helps us keep our glass jars in circulation!

And, as always, our farm store operates on the honor system. We do have a security camera monitoring the store, so please help us keep our little honor system working well. And remember… Jesus is watching too! 😉✝️

🍎🍂 CUSTOMER APPRECIATION WEEKEND! 🍂🍎

We’re welcoming fall here at the Milk House, and we want to celebrate with YOU! ❤️

We know we’ve been a little low on some of our favorites lately. Between the warm weather and our girls being further along in their lactation, our milk supply has been tighter than usual.

But we’re so thankful for our friends at Twin Springs Farm, the very same farm where we originally got all of our cows! They’re a local Grade A dairy that provides fresh raw milk to their own community and follows the same high testing standards that we do. They’ve graciously helped us out with some fresh local milk so we can get back to making some of those favorites you’ve been missing! ❤️🥛

We are so incredibly thankful for each and every one of you who chooses to support our little family farm. Your support truly means more than you know.

Thanks so much for your patience with us over the last week, we are open and have milk in the fridge! Sorry for the late, low supply here; we're looking into sourcing another cow to keep up with demand. But until then, we have got you covered! So feel free to come by the farm stand. We’ll be open during normal hours from 9:30 AM to 8 PM!
