Hey everyone, Nate here. I'm stepping away from strawberry growing this season. I'll be growing peaches out by Hotchkiss 🍑 I expect to be back into strawberries by next spring. I'm working to import some super sweet Japanese varieties that grow during our short winter days without supplemental lighting 🍓

Started cleaning the fields this week. It's a race against the clock to get it done before snow comes and the ground freezes.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for a successful harvest season, and looking forward to next season!

This week I dropped off the last of the leeks at Indigo Autum and leeks and cilantro at nido. That's officially a wrap for the 2022 season. It's been unseasonably cold up here the past few weeks, a little too cold. It's time to start cleaning up the fields and preparing for next year. I also have a really exciting announcement about strawberries coming soon! 🍓

Harvested the last of the leeks late this afternoon. The ground was still a little frozen, so it took some time. Just finished rinsing them. There's a layer of ice on everything and my hands are numb, but leeks are in walkin ready for trimming tomorrow, then on to Indigo Autumn

We're just a few days from beginning the Persephone Period, a time of year when plant growth slows to near zero due to shorter days and colder temperatures. There's a few more leeks in the field along with a little cilantro, but beyond that we're nearing the end of the season for field crops

Fresh from the field at Indigo Autumn today: Leeks, very last of the strawberries 🍓 (limited quantities), and discounted tomato seconds 🍅

The farm is covered in a fluffy blanket of snow this morning ❄🏔⛄ The winter crops should be okay, depending on how cold it gets tonight. We'll see how the strawberries do, if they survive there should be one more good picking 🤞🍓
