POV: you just wanted chicken feed and somehow left with a $150 diesel bill too 😭⛽🐓

“Dear God, please send help…” because these fuel prices are trying to take us all out 😂

Ever wish you had X-ray vision for your nesting boxes? 🥚✨

Well, we’re officially living in the future because MRI-inspired imaging for eggs is becoming a thing! Instead of just waiting and hoping during incubation, this tech lets us peek inside the egg non-invasively to check on chick health before they even think about pipping.

It’s honestly the cool factor of the century... being able to see that little life developing without disturbing the delicate environment inside. It’s like a pre-hatch wellness check that takes the guesswork out of the process. I’m totally geeking out over how this could help us ensure every chick gets the best start possible! 🐣

Would you use a "baby monitor" for your eggs if you could? Let me know in the comments!

Is it just me, or does it feel like the future is finally catching up to the coop? 🐓✨

I’ve been reading a ton about where poultry health is headed, and honestly, the "new" alternatives to antibiotics are blowing my mind. We’re talking bacteriophage technology, basically tiny, targeted helpers that knock out the bad bacteria: and even cold plasma for keeping things clean without the heavy chemicals.

It feels like such a huge win for us backyard flock owners and homesteaders. Being able to protect our birds naturally while keeping our eggs and meat as clean as possible is always the goal, right? It’s definitely a bit of a "learn-as-we-go" situation for some of this tech, but I am totally here for it! 🌿

I’d love to know: are you a "keep it strictly old school" kind of farmer, or are you excited about these high-tech health hacks? Let’s chat in the comments!

Let’s talk about the literal nightmare fuel that is... mites. 🕷️

You’re out doing a routine check, feeling like a total pro, and then you see it. One tiny red speck on a roost. In the world of chicken math, one mite actually equals about five hundred. They’re like the ultimate uninvited guests who brought their whole family and a keg without asking!

If you spot one during the day, it usually means there’s already a rager happening in your coop cracks while the girls are trying to sleep. It’s enough to make me want to underhand yeet the whole coop into the sun, lol. But we gotta protect our feathered friends! 🐔

We’re gearing up for a serious deep clean and treatment session, and I want to know your go-to battle plan. Are you team Diatomaceous Earth, do you swear by sprays, or have you joined the cult of poultry dust?

Drop your favorite products and "hack of the century" tips below. Let’s keep those flocks itch-free and happy!

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of opening the nesting boxes and seeing a literal rainbow staring back at you! 🌈🥚

From those deep, chocolatey Marans eggs to the soft blues and mossy greens, every bird adds its own little masterpiece to the basket. It’s definitely one of the best parts of the homestead life.

We want to know: which egg color is your absolute favorite? Are you all about the dark browns, or do you live for the olives and blues? Let’s see those colorful basket vibes in the comments! 👇✨

Ever seen one of your chickens stretching their neck and gasping for air like they’re yawning? 🐔😮 It might not be a simple yawn: it could be Gapeworms.

Gapeworms (Syngamus trachea) are tiny red worms that set up shop in a bird’s trachea. It’s definitely a "farmer reality" moment, but knowing the signs is half the battle:

⚠️ Symptoms:
- Repeated "gaping" or gasping with an open beak
- Stretching the neck out to breathe
- Shaking the head or coughing
- Lethargy and weight loss

How do they get them? Usually from snacking on intermediate hosts like earthworms, slugs, or snails that carry the larvae. 🐛🐌

✅ Prevention & Care:
- Keep coops and runs dry (worms love moisture!)
- Practice run rotation to break the parasite cycle
- Consult your vet for an appropriate dewormer (like fenbendazole) if you suspect an infection.

Caught early, your girls will be back to their happy selves in no time! Have you ever dealt with the "gapes" in your flock?

Boost that flock! 🚀💊

Sometimes the girls need a little extra "oomph" to keep them feeling their best, especially during molting season or big weather shifts. Supplements and vitamins are like the "hack of the century" for maintaining high egg production and shiny feathers.

We’ve curated a selection of the best health boosters on our site. Because a healthy chicken is a happy chicken! 🐓✨

Why did you start your homesteading journey? 🌿✨

For some, it’s about knowing exactly where your food comes from. For others, it’s the peace of the lifestyle or just a deep love for animals. Whatever the reason, we’re all in this "controlled chaos" together! lol

I’d love to hear what sparked your interest in chickens or farming. Was it a specific moment or just something you always wanted to do? Let’s share some inspiration today!

If you’re looking to add some serious "main character energy" to your flock, you’ve gotta check out these two. 🐓✨

First up, the Crevecouer. These guys are basically the rockstars of the poultry world with that wild mohawk crest. They’re fancy, they’re French, and they’ll surprise you with some lovely white eggs to round out your basket.

Then we have the Mystic Onyx... and oh man, they are stunning. Being a Silkie cross, they’ve got those dark, mysterious feathers and that unique look that’ll have your neighbors asking, "Wait, what kind of bird is THAT?" lol

Both are available now and ready to join your backyard crew! We’re all about the unique and exotic vibes this week, so come grab ‘em before they’re gone. We’ve also got our full lineup of Wyandottes, Brahmas, and Moss Olive Eggers ready for pick up too.

Drop by the farm or check out the site to see who’s ready to head home with you!

Is it just me, or do chickens have way more personality than people give them credit for? lol 🐔❤️

From the "tREATS?!" run to the way they follow you around like little feathered shadows, the bond you build with your flock is so rewarding. It’s definitely a "learn-as-you-go" situation with some of their quirks, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
