Many of you know that Farmer Patrick is also Professor Patrick at nearby Franklin & Marshall College. Did you know that he works with a dynamic team on water quality research through the Chesapeake Watershed Initiative?

Earlier this month, local filmmakers Mary Haverstick and Michele Mercure joined CWI at Franklin & Marshall to premiere their new documentary, Revealing Ancient Wetlands. The documentary showcases the restoration of Indian Run in Lancaster County, and you'll see Professor Patrick at minute 10:15. Introducing kale to cows... the ladies were suspicious, some ran, one was bossy and pushed others away, a few loved it, and another gave us a clear verdict. Lol!

It's here! PBS is broadcasting "Women's Work: The Untold Story of America's Female Farmers." This documentary features stories from across the country and outlines the historical context and challenges that female farmers have encountered.

It is a great honor that 4 generations of women who farmed at Verdant View could be featured in this production (beginning at 14:40). Filming at Verdant View was completed in 2018.

The cows at Verdant View were featured on the front page of Lancaster Farming Newspaper in late August. Since then, we have learned of a news update from our 5 year old: the cows have banded together with pirates and sunseekers alike to pilfer the pastures in search of treasures. Who knew?!?
