Gilliam Hay Farms

09/01/2026

Many of you may or may not be aware of this, but Jerry does not run this page. I state that so that my upcoming comment doesn’t seem self-praising because we all know Mr. Gilliam isn’t that type!

I cannot think of anyone more hard working and deserving to receive the Greene County Farm Family of the Year! Jerry has worked diligently in the classroom and on the farm to help students and our local community, has built an honest and successful farm operation, and is a farmer and family man through and through. Thank you, all for supporting Gilliam Hay Farms and thank you, Jerry, for being a true example of what a farmer and steward of the land and community should look like.

The September edition of Premiere is HERE, and we are spotlighting the agriculture industry with a focus on programs that help create future leaders. 🚜

We also have what you need to get ready for hunting season, along with a feature on a family that has been making hand-crafted duck calls for three decades. 🦆

The edition also includes our fall Encore section and a NXT GEN entrepreneurship section. 👩🏻‍💼👨‍💼

We are thankful for the rain we have had lately but it sure has made it hard to get in the hay fields! You all have a blessed day and stay cool.

Did you all know we have a self service barn where we keep bundles of hay and wheat straw set out for anyone who needs less than a bundle? We understand that many people just need a couple of bales or cannot afford to buy a bundle of 21 bales at a time. Since there is such a need for smaller purchases, we keep a portion of a barn stocked with hay and straw meant for those customers. We will also happily help load up your bales if anyone is around the farm. We consider this another way to deliver exceptional customer service. Our customers are important to us- no matter the quantity you purchase! So if you need a square bale of hay to haul with you to a rodeo or a bale of straw for bedding at the next county fair, swing on by to our “self serve” barn to get just what you need!
Also, we still have plenty of wheat straw in stock for all your gardening needs this spring! Wheat straw is still $5/ square bale.
