I named Bushel and A Peck Homestead after my mom — because she was the kind of person who made love feel abundant. The phrase “a bushel and a peck” always reminded me of warmth, comfort, and loving someone endlessly, and that was her. Even through her battle with small cell lung cancer, she carried strength, grace, and love that filled every room she walked into.
This business is more than eggs, a homestead, or a name. It’s a piece of her living on. A reminder of the way she loved her family, cared for others, and found beauty in simple things. Every single thing I build with Bushel and A Peck Homestead is rooted in her memory and the life lessons she left behind.
I have very vivid memories of my mom telling me “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” The week she was put on hospice and the night before she passed, I wanted to make sure she knew that I loved her a bushel and a peck and I would say it every time I spoke to her.
She may not be here physically, but her love still grows here every day.
Mom, Happy Mothers Day in Heaven. I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
