Before Spirit passed, we were trying different things to possibly perk him up. We chose Ricky, the sweet horse, to visit with him for a little while.

Spirit could never have been in with other horses due to his condition, but we gave him a horse friend for a little bit of time before he crossed. 💖

Herd Series, No. 25: Amy's Candy, known to all of us as Candy.

Our newest Mane Character, and the first rookie card we have ever made.

A dark bay Thoroughbred mare, foaled March 28, 2020 in Louisiana (by Brody's Cause out of Tight Precision), Candy came to Mane Characters on August 12, 2026 by way of The RACE Fund. She raced twice, and from that record it was pretty obvious she was never going to love that life.

She has been turning heads across the fence ever since. That floaty trot of hers stops whatever you were doing, and look at how straight her front legs are. 😮

She is in rehab for now. When she is ready, she gets her herd.

Herd Series, No. 24: Spirit Seeker, known to all of us as Spirit.

You have seen Spirit's card already, back at No. 21. This one is different. It is his memorial card, and we wanted you to know it was coming before you scrolled into it.

A bay Standardbred stallion, foaled May 8, 1999 in Quebec, by Incredible Abe out of Plain Simplicity. Spirit came to Mane Characters in September 2025 at twenty-six with a body score of 0, and by the end of the harshest winter in a while he was a 3.5 and still gaining. You remember. You were there for all of it. He crossed on July 21, 2026, at twenty-seven.

What we think about is not the numbers. It is Spirit first in line for the hose on a ninety-two degree day, and how much he loved to roll, and the night we brought him into the barn during a storm with cookies and peppermints and waited it out together.

Less than a year with him, and we are grateful for every day of it. 💜

A bay Standardbred mare, foaled April 28, 2010 in Pennsylvania (out of Western Terror and Secret Life), Ruby arrived at Mane Characters in April 2026.

With Ruby's card, the 2026 base set is complete. Twenty-three cards, one for every horse in our herd. Thank you for following along and getting to know them one at a time.

Herd Series, No. 22: Midnight Jewel, known to all of us as Jewel.

A brown Standardbred mare, foaled June 10, 1997 in Michigan (out of Keystone Raider and Anorexia), Jewel earned more than $750,000 over her racing career. She arrived at Mane Characters in April 2026.

Her son, Night Pro, was a million-dollar winner in his own right and was inducted into the Michigan Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 2022.
