Take some seconds with Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana), a beautiful mid canopy native. Their magic continues into the fall as foliage turns golden like the sun and tiny ribbony flowers are like yellow confetti ☀️

🌿 Mature size: 12–20 ft. tall and wide
☀️ Light: Full sun to part shade
💧 Soil: Moist, well-drained, tolerant of wet
🦋 3 Highlights of Ecosystem Relationships: host plant to Spring Azure butterfly, seeds eaten by wild turkeys, traditional medicinal uses for bark, leaves, and twigs

12 years in, we've learned a few things. And grown. This year, our crew potted up almost 8k native trees and shrubs for YOU and your neighbor and our cities and us to plant and enjoy for generations to come. We are so proud of these happy and healthy woody young ones. And we are READY to reserve for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 pickup! Most species will be ready to sell by October, some availanle now. Evergreens act as some special species in the landscape - providing valuable wildlife cover and food, windbreaks, erosion control, and privacy screening. In Kentucky, pines provide nesting space and shelter for birds like Eastern Bluebirds, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, White-breasted Nuthatches, Carolina Wrens, woodpeckers, and even Pine Warblers and Yellow-throated Warblers 😎
