We still have a steady stream of eggs coming in. Even with the higher temperatures most of the girls are still laying regularly. We unfortunately lost a chick to a hawk attack and he came back the next day for more but the girls were all locked up. Mabel though hatched 4 new babies to add to the flock. (Hopefully hens!! 🤞)

One of my friends sent me this picture of our eggs in a basket. Aren’t they pretty?

It’s starting to look a little like spring! The girls are enjoying being able to wander a little farther with out having to walk in the snow!

The girls have stepped up their laying and we are getting some beautiful eggs!

I haven’t posted in a long time- here’s an update. We have lots of chickens. 😂 we combined the flocks and now they are working out their pecking order. We’re starting to get some more eggs as the days grow a little longer and the molt is over. Hoping the chicks from the fall will start laying soon!

Exciting happenings around the coop! Mabel hatched 7 cute little chickies! Hopefully a bunch of hens. 🤞

Since our eggs are unwashed you may sometimes find what I call a little “barnyard” on them. We collect eggs multiple times a day and clean the boxes often but…. Chickens are messy birds! Why unwashed? Eggs are payed with a protective coating on them that washing destroys. (not my images)

When you get eggs from us you are getting fresh, unwashed eggs from free range chickens. They spend most of the day roaming our property and destroying any hopes I had of landscaping or gardening. Did you know chickens really like raspberries and blackberries?

Our story part 2: we had the 6 adults, then decided we wanted chicks, got 8, one turned out to be a rooster, then the next summer hatched some in an incubator, a hen went broody and hatched some chicks, then we got some more…. repeat! 😂 now we are up to 28 adult chickens and 8 chicks that a broody just hatched. Oh and we have another one sitting on eggs… 🤷🏼‍♀️ Chicken math.
