Wildflowers the bees are foraging on in the east Parker apiary (rural): blazing star, gilia, golden aster. And in the south Parker apiary (suburb) yellow yarrow and butterfly w**d, lavender and Russian sage.

A few native plants the bees are foraging on this week—Aspen sunflower, golden aster, white knapw**d, yellow aster, and prickly poppy 🌼

The drought has prevented a lot of the wildflowers near my east Parker apiary from blooming. The landscape for hives 1-4 is a natural, rural landscape and the bees very had little to forage on in June once the flowering trees stopped blooming. Hives 1-4 went through all of their stores and required supplemental feeding through June.

My suburbs apiary has had more to forgage on where lawns and flowers are watered manually. Russian sage is starting to bloom in the yard, it’s a great drought tolerant plant to plant for bees!
