Good morning everyone ❤️
Just a little update.
Things have been a little rough here.
My #1 fan, my Cookie Monster, Honeybun, declined fast this last week.
2 weeks ago we too her to the ER vet.
They said they couldn’t believe she was going to be 14. Lungs sounded good, heart sounded good. She was in unbelievably amazing shape for an English Bulldog about to turn 14.
She had developed a cough, had t been around in any other places but home.
They believed she had some sort of allergy or fungal infection and gave her some steroids and antifungal medication.
Within a couple of days, she was back to her self. Spunky, begging for cookies, and looked amazing.
Her birthday was June 10th.
Just a couple of days before her birthday she started acting lethargic and limping a little.
She was still eating and drinking and we made it to her birthday where she had everyone here at the house sing to her and then she enjoyed a cupcake.
She had gotten a little better but just wasn’t herself.
I was able to get her into the vet on the 12th at 2pm.
My youngest son and dad took her while I was at work.
At first, it looked hopeful. She was up and moving and ate. Vet said everything sounded good but would take an x ray to get a closer look.
They found a large mass near her lungs. Assumed to be cancer. It was so large that it was pressing up against her lungs making it hard for her to breathe and made her extremely weak.
We made the extremely difficult decision to give her the gift of a peaceful sleep after a life well lived.
We couldn’t bare the thought of watching her basically suffocate to death just to have possibly a couple more days or week with her.
She lived a LONG life for an English bulldog.
She was in a Parkersburg Easter parade where she walked the WHOLE thing, she walked the turkey trot, she went camping, she herded alpacas, she taste tested all the goodies for the caboose she could, she protected my boys as they grew up…she was an amazing girl.
With that, it’s extremely hard for me to be in the kitchen right now.
I keep seeing her everywhere, she even used to trip me when I would be pulling a tray out of the oven to carry to the cooling rack in hopes of making me spill cookies. She even succeeded a few times. She would pout and throw a bulldog toddler tantrum when cookies would be picked up from the house because she didn’t want them to leave the house.
I will try my best to put together a pop up for this coming weekend Father’s Day but please keep in mind, our family is grieving the loss of our Honeybun ❤️
