DSW Cowdogs

DSW Cowdogs breeds and trains quality registered Border Collie cowdogs. They began to seek out a line that was strong, tuff and trainable.

Dustin and Shannon Wood established DSW Cowdogs in 2010 after the realization that good help was hard to come by. The Wood's experimented with a few different breeds of Cowdogs, and found that the Border Collie fit the bill. In the search they found Merle and Sandi Newton of Crystal Rose Cowdog College and liked what they saw. After purchasing two females from the Newton’s program, they found that

these dogs replaced all of the help that they previously needed to move pastures, gather and sort cattle. After using their dogs on the ranch the Wood’s decided to try their hand at competitive cowdog trials to see how they compared. With knowledge from using their dogs in real life scenarios, the Wood’s have a competitive edge that is hard to come by. In 2012 they began their own breeding program and are raising nice strong registered Border Collies that are an asset on any ranch and can also go to town and win cowdog trials.

This little female has been tough. We saved semen from IndOaks Flint for almost 10 years to produce the perfect female to complement him. As soon as Dora was going we knew she’d be the one. Kinda bummed they only had one pup but after we started “Tani” I knew why. 😮‍💨
God has a plan for all of us, animals included.
We are grateful to be entrusted with this one.

Side note, how about those replacement heifers! 🖤🤍 We put a few bred heifers in with these gals to babysit and show them the way around here. First time out this gate, I think it’s working.

We lost a one in a million dog yesterday. RIP to IndOaks Flint. If you’re blessed to have his name on your dog’s pedigree, cherish them a little more.
Flint will be missed by many but no one more than his best friend Freddie. 💔
