Stearns Farmers' Market Located at 6975 Ridge Road in Parma, Ohio 44129 at the historic Stearns Homestead. Open Saturdays 11a-2p.

While we no longer host a farmers’ market, our garden is quite extensive and fresh vegetables are sold right out if the gardens.

Ripley is a strong pumpkin.
Growing fast, and will get faster.
The plant has suffered some slug damage. But is holding up fine.
The last two pictures with the bowling ball were takin Sunday, then Monday. The rain has been good to her.

WATCH ME GROW….
From Dana - farm gardener update -
“This plant is about a month in a half behind schedule. The vine is 15 x 15ft.
And I have picked the pumpkin to, hopefully, become the big one.
Having an ongoing battle with slugs. Hoping their damage won’t hurt the plant too much. Won’t be long till pumpkin pollination.”

Stop by on Saturday between 11-2 pm to see for yourself. Dana will be happy to take you thru the garden.

Watch me Grow!

June 11th till today.
After planting, the pumpkin went into a long period of no growth. Due to shock, night time temperatures, no rain, who knows.

The hot temperatures and roots settling in finally got it growing.
Still have about 110 before the frost. Enough time to still grow a big one.

A baby bird on the ground can look scary at first 😅 A few things I’ve learned:
🐦 If it has feathers and is alert, it’s usually a fledgling learning to fly.
🌿 The parents are often nearby, even if you don’t see them right away.
👣 Give it space and keep pets away while it figures things out.
🪺 Only try to help if it looks injured, is in danger, or has no feathers yet.
📞 When in doubt, a local wildlife rehabber is the best person to call.
It’s so tempting to “rescue” them, but most fledglings are exactly where they’re supposed to be.
