Spent half the day making cowboy candy pickled quail eggs & spicy jalapeño pickled quail eggs🌶️

Note to self… order an electric quail egg peeler before I make another batch. They aren’t hard to peel by hand but definitely time consuming.

We are toying with the idea of offering pickled quail eggs for sale after we test out some different recipes. If that’s something you’d be interested in let us know!

Did I haul hay in the trailer a few weeks ago? Yes
Did I leave it in the trailer until now? Also yes
Do I need the trailer tomorrow? Again yes😅

I have zero idea where this hay is being stored as it’s specifically for my mini cow and she only eats a couple flakes a day… but I thought ahead and put it on pallets so I can move it 15 times with the tractor🤣 That’s got to count for something… I’m just a girl🤷‍♀️

I finally got my answer to why this tank is always so dirty… the boys decided to leave me a clue🙄

Do you think it was an accident or were they trying to cool it down to keep playing in this heat?🤔 either way it’s time to dump and rinse this trough… again.

This is Indy’s favorite way to be watered🚿 Indy is one of our yearling fillies and loves a good hose down. She has us all trained very well… water on = spray Indy or she’ll steal the hose and make a pond herself🤣

With the AQI hovering in the high 200’s and into the 300’s, we are doing whatever we can to cut down on extra dust and repository irritants.

Does it feel weird? Absolutely!
Does it feel slightly ridiculous? Again, absolutely!
But with the air already full of smoke every little bit we can do to minimize respiratory irritants counts.

So if you see us out here watering hay, just know we haven’t completely lost our minds… yet🤣

🔥 𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 🔥

With this hot and dry weather comes an increase in fires leading to smoky skies and ever changing air quality. It’s a good reminder to keep an eye on your horses, even if the fires aren’t close by.

When the Air Quality Index (AQI) rises:
🐴 Reduce or avoid strenuous exercise.
💧 Make sure horses have constant access to fresh, clean water.
🌾 Minimize dust whenever possible including wetting hay prior to feeding.
👀 Watch for signs of respiratory distress, including frequent coughing, nasal discharge, flared nostrils, increased breathing rate, or decreased appetite.
🏠 If possible, postpone hauling or events until air quality improves.
🩺Consult your veterinarian, especially if your horse has been exposed to heavy smoke or is showing signs of respiratory distress.
