Sutton needs a kidney. If your heart is calling you to be tested or help with kidney transfer, etc. please reach out. Your gift could change so many lives

We have had so many incredibly kind people offer to get tested to see if they could donate a kidney to Sutton. Unfortunately, some wonderful potential donors don’t meet Sutton’s specific requirements, such as blood type or age.

After speaking with Sutton’s living donation team, we’ve learned that there is another option that may allow some of those people to help: paired kidney exchange. 🫘💚

Here’s how it works!
If someone wants to donate a kidney to Sunny girl but isn’t a direct match for her, they may still be able to donate through a paired kidney exchange. That person would donate their kidney to another person who is a match for them, and in return, Sutton can receive a kidney from another living donor who is a better match for her.

In simple terms, your kidney could help someone else, while another donor’s kidney helps Sutton. It creates a chain of donations that can make a transplant possible even when a donor and recipient aren’t a direct match.

Your blood type and age are now not a factor that would eliminate you! You still must be in good health (no diabetes, hypertension, etc…)

So, if you have ever thought about being tested to donate a kidney to Sutton but assumed you couldn’t because you weren’t the right blood type or didn’t meet her direct donor requirements, there may still be a way you can help.

If you are interested in being tested as a potential living donor for Sutton through either direct donation or paired kidney exchange, please reach out to us. We would be incredibly grateful for your willingness to explore this possibility and help give Sutton a chance at the kidney she needs.

If you can’t donate please share in hopes we find a donor for Sutton.

Today Sutton had blood work, physical therapy, and nephrology.

As always, Sutton worked so hard in PT. Sutton’s weight has continued to increase and her labs have remained stable, with some slight improvements. Her team is very happy with her overall progress and told us today that she is officially being considered “ready for transplant.”

At this point, Sunny girl is simply waiting on a kidney. Once a donor is confirmed, planning for surgery will begin.

While this feels like such a huge win because we have gotten Sutton to where she needs to be, it also feels incredibly overwhelming and helpless. As Sutton’s parents, we have done everything we can do. Sunny girl has done everything we have needed her to do. Now we are at the point of sitting, hoping, and praying that someone is willing to be the missing piece of this puzzle.

As a parent, knowing your child desperately needs something to survive and not being able to give it to her is quite literally torture. I have never felt so helpless or desperate.

As of now we will keep praying. We will keep believing. And we will keep hoping that her person is out there and hopefully able and willing to give our girl the kidney and second chance at life she so desperately needs.
