Rotta Winery, founded in 1908 by the Rotta Family, is the only remaining family owned “original” winery in San Luis Obispo County. We're a family caught in a conundrum. We want to pay homage to the past but still carve out our own path. And let's not even get started on the whole "ROE-TA vs. RAW-TA" thing. Rotta Zin and Rotta Black Monukka are here to stay, they're legends in a bottle. For the rest, we're cooking up new wine names paired with stories that'll stick with you. One of the most challenging parts of moving a vineyard to organic is w**d control around the vines. Normally it has to be done by hand with hoes. Here is a new mechanical w**der we are trialing at the Hollyhock vineyard and will be moving to Rotta. Wine club emails are going out this week - Rotta wine club members will have the opportunity to choose some of the Hollyhock Rhone wines as well. -Bill

We continue on our journey as new owners and proprietors of Rotta Winery. We spent the past four months tasting through 300 barrels to find the 30 best ones and commenced blending and preparation. The Rose fruit was harvested by our friends and family on the first day of ownership. -Julie and Bill Lapp
