"A massively rich and muscular procession of smoky blackberry, ripe dark cherry, gooey blueberry, and black currant broods with dense and concentrated might as underlying impressions of asphalt, sun-baked soil, and campfire impart an intriguing and attractive sense of ruggedness. Pleasant herbal notes of rosemary, to***co, menthol, and sage proudly assert their presence while wafts of crushed violet and bougainvillea contribute interesting floral lift. Hints of black pepper, cinnamon, and vanilla gently reveal well integrated spice tones as a mild suggestion of new leather provides a lightly luxurious sheen. Strikingly concentrated, powerful, and robust on the palate while remaining well balanced despite its sheer intensity; exhibiting a bold, spicy, and delightfully age-worthy presentation that is as seductive as it is serious. Fully bodied with medium tannin backed by moderate acidity. This 2020 "Raíces" by Metas Altas is an assertive and amplified red from Paso Robles. 

Located in the heart of California's Central Coast, Paso Robles is a warm and sun-drenched region that has become world renowned for the complex and powerful wine it shapes. This bottling, crafted by Metas Altas using a blend of 49% Malbec/25% Syrah/17% Tempranillo/9% Grenache grown in Paso Robles, is an excellent example of the combination of depth and concentration that this region has become legendary for. This generously gushes with a range of dense dark fruits complicated by rugged earthy tones, complex herbs, intriguing floral notes, and delicious spiciness. Although absolutely delicious today after a short decant this possesses the "umph" to age quite nicely, and will likely require another 5-7 years to reach its drinking peak. Excellent.

Temptingly ripe and succulent blasts of strawberry, sweet watermelon, orange peel, and peach lead a delightfully plump and juicy attack effortlessly booming with gobs of thirst quenching fruit-driven refreshment. Notes of crushed gravel and stony minerality playfully contribute clean streaks of earthiness while subtle impressions of mint and wild herbs provide a pinch of exotic charm. Soft suggestions of plucked flower petals and carnations gently lift and liven aromatics while a hint of cherry tomato reveals a dash of savoriness. Beautifully bright, crisp, and dry on the palate while possessing an interesting combination of depth and drinkability; exhibiting a straightforward and unpretentious yet delicious presentation that is perfectly suited to pairing with food. Medium bodied and balanced nicely by moderate acidity. This 2021 Central Coast Rosé by Metas Altas is a fresh and fun rosé from California. 

While rosé wines are capable of possessing serious complexity and concentration on par with some of the world's greatest whites or reds, this genre is often valued most for its ability to provide effortless drinkability and refreshment. This bottling, crafted by Metas Altas using fruit sourced from around California's Central Coast, proves that simple, bright, and juicy wines can be so much fun to sip and enjoy. This playfully spills a smile-inducing range of berry, melon, citrus, and stone fruits complimented by gravely mineral notes, minty herbs, and delicate floral tones. It is drinking wonderfully today with no need for further aging, and is well suited to serving alongside a range of fresh dishes or just a warm sunny day. Very nice.

Exuberantly youthful and energetic bursts of cranberry, underripe blackberry, sour cherry, and tart pomegranate lead an irresistibly crisp and characterful display playfully bursting with gobs of unpretentious juiciness and crunch. Well integrated herbal hints of thyme, fennel, and mint leaf provide a pinch of non-fruit complexity while subtle flecks of white pepper add an understated yet interesting spiciness. Mild suggestions of plucked flower petals gently impart bits of floral lift delicately underlaid with clean earthy notes of limestone and fresh salinity. Charmingly bright, lean, and crushable on the palate with an unquestionably fun and thirst-quenching personality; exhibiting a pure-fruited and pretty presentation that is complex and intriguing yet still chillable and perfectly refreshing. Light bodied with barely-there tannin backed by elevated acidity. This 2021 Central Coast Syrah by Metas Altas is an unconventional yet delicious red from California. 

Although it is often shaped into some of California's most concentrated and robust red wine, Syrah is also capable of being made in brighter and crunchier styles when it is grown in cooler regions and picked early to prioritize freshness. This bottling, crafted by Metas Altas using Syrah sourced from within California's Central Coast, is an exciting example of this noble grape at its most drinkable and delicious. This delicately presents plenty of tart yet expressive red and black fruits that come across and decidedly lean and juicy, and it backs them with subtle herbal notes, dainty florals, mild spicy qualities, and enjoyable earthiness. It is a great fit to serve chilled and likely best consumed young while it is at its freshest and most fruity, but will certainly hold for at least a few years. Yum.
