Yesterday, I received a special Mother’s Day gift, personally hand-delivered by Guillaume Fabre: a bottle of La Rose from 🙏🏼 This winery springs from a love story between Guillaume and Solène Fabre, who founded Clos Solène in 2007 after a series of life-changing decisions and geographical moves.

Their story began when Guillaume, originally destined to continue his family’s winemaking legacy in France, chose instead to carve out his own path. It was during this pivotal time that he met Solène. Their connection was instant and profound—a true “coup de foudre,” or love at first sight, that dramatically altered their life trajectories. United by their shared passion for winemaking and each other’s company, they embarked on creating Clos Solène in the idyllic setting of Paso Robles.

La Rose is a blend of 72% Grenache Noir, 18% Grenache Gris, and 10% Mourvèdre. The cool conditions of the 2023 vintage allowed for careful handpicking and gentle pressing, resulting in a wine with delicate pink hues and layers of aromatic complexity.

I can’t wait to visit this special place one day!

As we tucked away our 2023 vintage, it’s time to wake up our 2022 vintage from their slumber…. Our production crew has been strategically, (yet romantically) tasting and blending the individual blocks and varieties to meet their match and create the wines you know and love in the bottle. For its final “assemblage” until they’re perfectly ready for bottling in the months to come 💤
