What really makes this experience so special is the story behind the sweet and savory flavors. What started out as a Marketing project turned out to be history in the making. Picture a 23 year old woman carrying a baby in one hand and a tray of baklava in the other. That was my Mother taking her boss one of her specialty pastries and that was me gazing at what I soon found out was my passion outsi
de of my full time job. My Mom had tried selling baklava to her boss when she was living in California as a young Mother. When he asked her if she knew how to make this delicacy, she said yes, went home, called my Grandma in New York, and my Grandma instructed her step by step over the phone. The name was created to honor my Grandmother, Berjuhi Bakalian. My Grandmother passed her recipe down to my Mother who passed it down to me. We wanted to have her live through our family business by keeping her recipe alive. Baklava even sounds like Bakalian. Throughout her life, my Mother has made my Grandmother's pastries as gifts and thank you's. Seeing the eye popping reactions towards her unique and delicious bite sized treats gives us such joy to provide an incredible experience. We would love nothing more than to "Share the LAV" with you. Through B.Baklava and her recipe, I hope I can keep her spirit alive. And when people say my Baklava tastes like heaven, I smile because I know she is guiding me on this journey.
