The UFO Vision
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all creatures have value, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Every creature on the farm should have these rights and be allowed to express its nature. Every creature should receive the highest quality food, water, and shelter, free of anything harmful or unnatural. Here at UFO farms, we have four primary principles; soil microbes, plants, animals, and humans, in that order of importance. Without healthy soil, there are no healthy plants and in turn no healthy, happy animals. Without healthy soil, plants, and animals, there are no healthy, happy humans. As sixth generation Oklahoma farmers, we care deeply about the land we call home. We strive to make sure each member of the farm community has its needs met, before the farmer ever gets his met. That every being on the farm has the freedom to express its nature and pursue a happy life, before the farmer ever pursues his. We then harness their nature and put it to work for the community that is the farm. Our primary job as the farmer is to do very little of the actual work, but to instead find jobs for everyone. A farmer's life should be an easy one and by letting nature do what she does, it can be. Each species on the farm fulfills a beneficial role. Each species has its own unique behavior pattern and manure profile. Each species targets different types of forage on the farm and increases biodiversity, as they do what they do. The end result is land that becomes more fertile every year, lower vet bills, reduced inputs, and a farm that can be profitable, while maintaining its integrity.
