Eastern Wild Turkeys are coming to the farm. After an intense 28 days in the incubator, the long awaited ,turkey poult's are finally here. We ordered 25 eggs from AV hatchery https://avbirds.com/ out of Lancaster, California. Two did not survive shipping and four did not develop fully. We are hoping for 18 and have six so far. This is the start of a venture into breeding wild turkeys and we plan to have flocks of all five subspecies by years end.

On 4/23 an EF0 rocked the farm. We were hit with damaging winds in excess of 85 mph, and hail that covered the ground in 2 inches of ice. The garden was crushed. Two weeks later, you can hardly tell it happened.

All of our processes and products are open source and freely published to be scrutinized and replicated, for the benefit of advancing regenerative agriculture.

Regeneration
A farm should be helping to make things better, not worse. We believe that proper farming practices support all lifeforms, reduce toxicity in the environment, and increase diversity in all aspects of nature.

Community
To create freedom from the agricultural industry, by practicing farming techniques that replicate nature, for the benefit of our family, community, state, nation, and planet. To use what is available on the farm, to create all farming inputs and teach others to do the same. To work with nature so that inputs are reduced or eliminated, once the natural farming system is put into place.

Quality
If we would not give it to our children, we won't give it to our customers. Food, supplements, inputs, and care products should cause health, never harm it. The products we produce will be the highest quality available. By striving to grow in a forest environment, products are robust and teaming with nutrients. We believe that everything we produce should be food and medicine.

The UFO Vision

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all creatures have value, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Every creature on the farm should have these rights and be allowed to express its nature. Every creature should receive the highest quality food, water, and shelter, free of anything harmful or unnatural. Here at UFO farms, we have four primary principles; soil microbes, plants, animals, and humans, in that order of importance. Without healthy soil, there are no healthy plants and in turn no healthy, happy animals. Without healthy soil, plants, and animals, there are no healthy, happy humans. As sixth generation Oklahoma farmers, we care deeply about the land we call home. We strive to make sure each member of the farm community has its needs met, before the farmer ever gets his met. That every being on the farm has the freedom to express its nature and pursue a happy life, before the farmer ever pursues his. We then harness their nature and put it to work for the community that is the farm. Our primary job as the farmer is to do very little of the actual work, but to instead find jobs for everyone. A farmer's life should be an easy one and by letting nature do what she does, it can be. Each species on the farm fulfills a beneficial role. Each species has its own unique behavior pattern and manure profile. Each species targets different types of forage on the farm and increases biodiversity, as they do what they do. The end result is land that becomes more fertile every year, lower vet bills, reduced inputs, and a farm that can be profitable, while maintaining its integrity.

Some people brew beer, we brew microbes for our plants and animals. A healthy microbe herd, is the key to abundant health in the soil and in animal bodies. This is 50 gallons of microorganisms, brewed right here on the farm. At Unity Farms, we don't just practice organic, we practice JADAM organic farming. Almost everything on the farm is closed loop. What that means is that we don't need to spend great deals of money, in order to grow and raise animals and plants. We don't use pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or fertilizer. Most of our animal feed is either grown and harvested here, hunted locally, or sourced locally. All of our plants are given inputs we make ourselves. Even our family is quickly moving to hand made products in the home. We believe that agriculture should be something a farmer practices, not something he is helped to do with giant corporations.

24 Eastern Wild Turkey Eggs, arrived in the mail two days ago. They have been waiting patiently for our Rhode Island Reds to hatch and are now ready to go into the incubator. Turkey eggs have a longer gestation period than chickens and will not be here for 28 days. We have been consistently having a 70% success rate with our incubator. We are adding advanced climate control to the incubator room today and maybe we can get those numbers up a bit.

Sixteen Rhode Island Red chicks, fresh out of the incubator and ready to get out into the world. These chicks were all born on Sunday, April the 10th. They were bred and hatched right here at Unity Farms. The chicks are on organic feed and their mother and father are free range and primarily forage for their food. Their parents were raised from day old chicks, right here on the farm. They will be up for sale next Wednesday, at the entrance to our farm. We sell them for $4.99 per chick.
