Brown glass Clorox bottles? What’s so special about them? The Clorox is long gone and now they only hold memories. They hold my memories of being a little boy and my Grandma, Helen Rucker Manley asking us grandkids to find her one of these bottles. Why she wanted it I’ll never know, but I do know this, when we presented it to her it found a home for the rest of her life on her special shelf they held other things dear to her. A shelf my father built for her. A shelf that held a glass jar of Rucker Cotton Seed from her father’s business, an old Edison light bulb that I believe my father found and gave her, what was left of an old toy bus, and several other things I don’t recall. I can only imagine why she wanted a brown Clorox bottle other than it held a memory for her. Every time I find one of these bottles that memory comes flooding back to me. She been gone a long time but the memories these bottles hold are as strong as the Clorox that originally filled them. Today I found these three while burning woods and I think I’ll hold on to them for a while.
