Turn Back Time

Turn Back Time Turn Back Time’s mission is to help people recognize nature’s ability to teach and heal. Turn Back Time operates on a 58 acre homestead in Paxton, MA.

This property boasts a Turn Back Time (TBT) is a non-profit nature-based education center located on 58 acres in Paxton, Massachusetts. Our mission at Turn Back Time is to help people recognize nature’s ability to heal and teach with a commitment to offering programs to under-served populations.. We align with this mission through educational programs, nature play, and farm education. We connect p

articipants with nature through thoughtful and engaging programs, blending structured and unstructured exploration of the outdoor world within a welcoming and harmonizing environment. The property has expanded from humble beginnings to now include an active beaver pond, an extensive forested trail system, and a fully functional working farm. The farm includes a barn with classroom space, stables, green house, commercial garden beds, and a milieu of farm animals to interact with. Our in-resident animal friends include a whole clan of chickens (most uniquely named by children!), a horse, pony, goats, and a miniature donkey named MoMo, who all adore attention and care from our students and guests. Together, within our varying programs, we have the opportunity to witness nature’s splendor as it changes throughout the seasons; engaging our imaginations, activating our senses, and deepening our inquiry and knowledge of the natural world through active investigation. Our programs create resiliency as we build a relationship between the learner and the natural world; providing opportunities to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to ourselves. These opportunities in nature give individuals of all ages the time, space, and permission to learn, gain new experience, and grow in confidence and love for themselves, for others, and for this earth we call home.

🌲 STEAM in the Forest! 🌿

Our older campers spent the last week of camp learning through real-world exploration, problem-solving, and adventure.

They worked together to scout and plan the perfect location for a forest shelter, created their own survival tools, explored the waterfall, and searched for critters along the way! 🪵💦🐸

Experiences like these give kids the chance to take the lead, make decisions, work as a team, think creatively, and build confidence while learning to navigate the natural world.

There’s something pretty amazing about watching kids turn their ideas into something real! 🌱✨

🔥🚒 What a way to wrap up camp!

We finished our last day with a visit from our Paxton firefighters! How lucky are we! The kids learned important fire safety tips, explored the fire truck, and even got a turn spraying the hose. 🧯👩‍🚒

A fun, hands-on way to end an amazing week of camp! ❤️

We are so grateful to the Paxton Fire Department!

❤️

🌿 What a summer it’s been! ☀️

From gardening, crafting, and hiking through the trails to nature play, finding critters, fort building, visiting our farm animals and simply playing with friends—our campers have spent their days growing in every sense of the word. 💚

These are the experiences that build confidence, curiosity, creativity, independence, and connection. So much learning happens when children have the freedom to explore, get messy, wonder, play, and just be kids. 🌱🐛

Here’s to a summer full of muddy hands, big discoveries, and happy memories! ☀️

🐐🐓🐇 Animal Adventures of the Farm & Forest! 🐴🐈🌿

This week was all about getting close to the animals, exploring the farm, hiking through the forest, and most importantly playing!

Being around farm animals gives children so many opportunities to practice slowing down, observing, and regulating themselves.

A goat might need a little space, a rabbit may startle, and a horse requires calm, gentle movements. Kids learn to read animal cues, adjust their bodies and voices, practice patience, and build confidence through real, meaningful interactions.

We also spent time catching frogs and making crafts! It was a fun filled week, jam packed with amazing adventures outdoors..just like summer should be! ☀️

🐝Our pollinator garden is in full bloom!

& it’s one of our favorite places to slow down and watch nature at work. From busy bees to beautiful butterflies, every flower is helping support the tiny pollinators that keep our ecosystems healthy.

We’re so grateful that this special space was made possible through grant funding, allowing us to create a habitat that benefits both wildlife and the children who learn and explore here every day. Here’s to growing beauty, supporting biodiversity, and making a difference, one bloom at a time! 🌸🌿

🛠️ Our Farmers in Training campers spent the week creating something special for the farm!

🥒Our very own mini farmers market! 🥒
This hands-on project gave campers the opportunity to learn practical skills, work as a team, and take pride in creating something that will be enjoyed by our community.

🌱 From tending the garden, harvesting fresh vegetables to sell, and building the stand themselves, they’ve been involved every step of the way. This week, they even made their very first batch of homemade pickles to eat! We are so proud of all of their hard work!
