In two years, what sort of Goat do you want to be milking? When is the time to find the buck(ling) that will give you does that make you happy? How do you pick?

2026 annual camping trip in the books. The goats handled it like they do it everyday.

One day we loaded them up and decided to take them camping with us.. now it’s a thing. They just go everytime 🩷 no fuss, they love the fresh green, they still eat, still milk the same and they devour more water then at home 😆

Mother & daughter. Both freshened as yearlings. Both had single doe kids. Different feed management. The daughter on what some would call worse feed since we are solely feeding grass hay and last year was alfalfa… is milking more then her mother..

Welp.. I knew the risks playing with feed and switching hay but now it’s time we learn to make it work. Dealing with milk inversions 😕

➖Solely feeding grass hay
➖They get alfalfa pellets fed twice a day mob style (group fed)

*Was feeding 16% dairy grain mixed with whole oats.

We are not going back to alfalfa right now. The hay market is about to get buck wild and we are using our resources to get good grass hay (the goats like it better anyway) 🤷🏼‍♀️ but need some good help to prevent inversions.
