I just love the quiet nature sounds of early morning on the farm. The Arrowsmith family has been on this farm for almost 70 years. They purchased the farm in its entirety, including the herd of Jersey cows. The farm was purchased from the Gatchell family, who had milk the cows here for many years. We are proud to continue the stewardship of Hillacres Jerseys, which had has been the home to Jersey cows for over 100 years.

We absolutely love this barn for our younger calves. There’s plenty of room for them to move about. It is cozy in the winter when the curtains are up, and when they are open in the spring and summer they get plenty of fresh air.

We smoked a bone-in prime rib roast for Tom’s birthday this week! It was a tad overdone, but the yellow fat from our Jersey cows made for the most juicy and tender roast! I guess we’ll just have to cook another one to try to get it perfect 😏

Have you met our quadruplets? These four new cheeses look very similar, but once you get to know them you can really tell how different they are! Our Havarti, Mozzarella, Gouda, and Muenster has been slowly rolling out at our markets and stores, keep an eye out for it and pick your fav quadruplet!

this past weekend was the Howard County Fair! we had a great time and so did our cows, Arnold took home Reserve Junior Champion and Angelstar earned Reserve Grand Champion! thank you to all of our friends and family that came to help the girls look their best!

This beauty is just as the name suggests, tender! Perfect for eating on its own, or adding to your fav sandwich or salad. I served it here with chimichurri sauce and roasted radishes, the perfect spring meal!

We welcomed Flora to the herd this week. Flora is being welcomed by our newfypoo Grey. Her Mom is Flower and her Great Great Great Grandmother Lilly was the first calf owned by our oldest son Jonny. When Lilly had her first calf, we decided that the family would be our flower themed family. Other members of Flora’s lineage are named Marigold, Lavender, and Lilac.
