Our calf barn is positioned very intentionally. It faces south so it blocks the wind in the winter, and when the sun is lower, it allows for afternoon sun. But in the summer when the sun is higher, a large overhang provides shade and allows for air movement to help keep them cooler. The individual pens keep them healthy while their immune system develops, and assures that we know what each calf is consuming for water and grain. They get bottles of milk twice a day along with freshwater and grain.
