Beauty is everywhere.

There’s a lot of physical work that goes into growing flowers. There’s planting, weeding, harvesting, hauling, conditioning, watering, and all the other jobs that come with flower farming.

But then there’s this part.

Taking all those flowers I’ve grown and turning them into something that has movement, balance, rhythm, color, line, shape, and form.

My background as an art teacher has helped me tremendously as a flower-farmer-florist. I don’t just see a stem as a stem. I’m thinking about proportion, contrast, texture, and how one flower relates to another.

When I’m making a bouquet, I feel like I’m making a sculpture.

It’s another form of three-dimensional art — except this one grew in my soil.

So yes, I’m a flower farmer. A laborer. I work hard with my hands.

But I’m also an artist.

And this is one of my favorite ways to make art.

There’s nothing quite like Scottish Highland coos (or cows)! 🤎

Our neighbors have the most beautiful Highland cattle grazing in the field across the road, and I never get tired of watching them. They’re massive, shaggy, and somehow have the most calm and steadfast presence.

August is all about transition—

We’re wrapping up summer, preparing for the seasons ahead, and squeezing in as much farm life as we can before Dan and I head back to school. 📚

There’s still plenty blooming, growing, drying, creating, and dreaming at Peacham Lavender Farm. And since it’s my birthday month 🎂, I’m feeling especially grateful for this crazy, beautiful little farm life. 💜

Congratulations, Martin & Camille! 💍🫶💐

What an incredible weekend celebrating these two on Cathleen Stone Island Events also known as Thompson Island, in Boston Harbor!

Camille dreamed of a wedding filled with color, lush greenery, and flowers everywhere—and we were so honored to bring that vision to life with farm flowers grown right here in Vermont. 🌿🌸

But this wedding was especially meaningful to me for another reason: I was Camille’s nanny when she was just seven years old. So as I worked on her bridal bouquet, I found myself thinking about that little girl I knew 23 years ago—and more than once, I had to wipe away a few tears. 🥹

There was something incredibly special about creating the flowers for her wedding day. It felt like one of those beautiful full-circle moments life occasionally gives you.

And those flowers had quite the adventure of their own! They traveled from our fields in Vermont to Boston, and then by ferry across the harbor to the island. After a very late night preparing bouquets, an early-morning ferry ride, and an afternoon of setting up and coordinating everything from boutonnieres and corsages to centerpieces, focal pieces, and chair flowers…we did it! 💪💐

And then came the very best part: we got to put down our floral tools and celebrate! We were lucky enough to be guests at the wedding and spend the evening celebrating Martin and Camille with their incredible family and friends.

Martin & Camille, thank you for trusting us with such an important part of your day. And Camille, thank you for letting me be part of your story once again, 23 years after I first knew you as a little girl. ❤️

What a joy. What a beautiful wedding. What a full-circle moment.

From childhood play days to wedding flowers 💐

This one is extra special. ❤️

Our beautiful bride wanted COLOR, COLOR, COLOR and lots of green—and we couldn’t have been more excited to bring her vision to life.

And the sweetest part? I used to babysit her when she was a little girl. Now, all these years later, I get to create her wedding flowers. 🥹🌸

This weekend, we’re bringing a little piece of our farm in Vermont all the way to Cathleen Stone Island in Boston Harbor for her wedding day.

This is just the beginning… we can’t wait to show you more glimpses of all the beautiful, colorful flowers we’ve grown and gathered for her celebration. 🌿💐
