One of the many ways we help the goats, donkeys, and horses beat the heat on the farm ~ Himalayan salt blocks!
Along with providing the goats with free choice minerals we also hang these handy salt blocks where they can reach them:) Because Mini goats!
What so special about them? Well, they encourage the goats to drink adequate amounts of fresh water and help replenish electrolytes lost during daily activity or hot weather. It's kinda the goat equivalent to long distance runners using salt for electrolyte replenishment during long runs and races.
These mighty blocks may even help the goats get regular access to sodium to stimulate a healthy appetite and aid in rumen function on these hot & humid Midwest summer days.
Salt is just one of the many minerals we supplement their diet with.
