Obviously it's been a long time since we've made a post here. We have a lot of changes this spring, with lots of lambs, kids, and even adding bees.

Big changes are starting to take place here. Last year, as with many small farms, we navigated the pandemic and the many changes it brought. For a time, we shifted our focus away from the farm. We sold off a number of animals, layer flock, and much of the equipment because it seemed that our path was headed elsewhere.

Over the year, we’ve had the opportunity over the winter to talk, pray, and plan. Moving forward, we are going to grow our layer flock again. This year, we also introduced a smaller number of turkeys and Freedom Rangers. Pastured poultry is where we got started, and will always be a passion for us. We’re excited to be gearing up to offer pasture raised eggs in the near future.

We also got a few Boer and Kiko (meat breed) goats this past fall. They were an addition primarily tasked with helping us train the litter of Livestock Guardian Dogs that were born on the farm last October. Our own ‘Quick Response Force’ has grown by one as a result. Her name is Koru.

That time of rest was a huge blessing. It has allowed us to start with a nearly blank slate. We’ve been able to completely redraw our fence lines and rotational grazing plans. We started work on our new paddock system today! Our goal is to introduce grass fed lamb once the necessary infrastructure is built.

Thank you to all for the ‘likes’ to our page over the past few weeks. For some strange reason, we’ve seen an uptick of new visitors to our page…. Though up til now there has been a distinct lack of activity on our end. In any case, Thank You!

(She keeps getting herself stuck, so this should help to teach her that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.)

Goatlings have arrived!

Onyx (black) is our new herd sire! Jasper (dark brown face) and Billy (light brown face) are his companion wethers.

They are joining Pearl (white), Opal (white with brown face and shoulders), and Ruby (brown with white stripe).
