Genetic composition is very important to the future of our herd. There are actually several factors that are taken into account when purchasing a bull and John takes his time studying before he makes a purchase. These include disposition, calving ease, fleshing, thickness, masculinity, muscling, hair coat, and fly resistance (to name a few).
We are thankful to have found Pharo Cattle Company. We have bought our last 5 bulls from them and have been very happy with every one.

1st pic: Gold Plated (bull purchased in 2021)

2nd pic: Kipling AKA Kip (newest bull purchased last week)

Also, thank you to McGuire Family Farms for transporting him back to Indiana for us!

If you have been to the farm when Chris is around, she probably welcomed you with open arms and made you feel right at home.

A couple of years ago, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and we are going to do all that we can to keep her moving and grooving!😏

Join us April 27th at Eastern High School for the 5K Run for the Tulips as we move for a cure! All proceeds will be donated to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

It was a beautiful day on the farm! It was also a great day to tackle some neglected fence rows. The thorns and thistles gave us a run for our money, but they are no match for a chainsaw and a bush hog on the front of a skid steer.

Last pic is one of my favorite views on the farm!

Friday Fall Photo Dump from the Farm:
(go ahead and say that 5 times fast, I dare you)
😆😏😊

There’s just something about peaceful mornings checking the cows and basking in the sunshine that is so good for the soul! Today I sat on a log, soaked it all in, and thanked the good Lord for so many blessings!

Fun Fact Friday:

The mass of fat around the kidneys of a cow is known as "leaf fat." This fat is valued because of its tasteless and odorless properties. It is also an excellent source of vitamins B6, B12 and K, potassium, iron, and riboflavin just to name a few.

Recently, a company called Tallow started purchasing our leaf fat to use in their skincare line. They love how pure our fat renders and the consistency in the finished product. Right now, they are using our fat for balms and deodorant. They have other products as well on their website.

Feel free to check out their page that I am tagging in this post or their website: tallowskinbalm.com. They are located in Indianapolis and sell both locally and internationally.

We are super excited to try some products that have been made with our fat. If you decide to try some, you can specify in the comments that you would like it to be made with Denny's Grassfed Beef fat.

We loved getting to meet with the owner and talk to her about her business!!

We have had some interest in a 25 lb. ground beef/roast box option.
We put one together for a customer and thought we would post here to see if others are interested. Each box will be slightly different or could be custom made if you prefer one type of roast over another.
This particular box included 12 lbs of ground and then 13 lbs of roast.
Message us or call/text Hannah if you are interested @ 812-844-0671.
We have these in stock and could be picked up at the farm this week!
