Here's an article from Home & Garden, March 1934!
We owe Dr. Stout our gratitude for his achievements in the development of daylilies. After around 50,000 cross-pollination experiments between 1911 and 1947, he pretty much reinvented the daylily. He increased the bloom size, lengthened the flowering season, and broadened the variety. He also increased the success rate of self propagation.
