**I do not wash my eggs as it destroys the natural "bloom" and allows bacteria to enter the egg. Country girl to the bone! I tried the city thing for nearly 8 years...dr

ove me close to crazy! I needed dirt, a garden, fresh veggies, flowers and I missed chicken p**p! One summer there was a nasty thunderstorm and all I remember is my father getting us kids, mom and driving out to where a chicken barn full of leghorns USE to be. The farmer said we could have as many chickens as we could catch! And so started my first adventure with chickens, then it expanded to geese, ducks, and turkeys. We sold fresh eggs, butchered spent hens and geese, built an amazing steel coop and constructed an attached run with protected netting. This excitement ended one night when a weasel got in the open run door and killed everything...and I mean everything. So in 2010 I had had enough with the "apartment city life" and moved back to the country into our families old farmhouse (I'm 4th generation living there). In the spring of 2012 a lady brought me a rooster, just a rooster. So I had to get him some hens, which a friend provided me with and also some mystery eggs. SO, I bought a new incubator, turned the old wellhouse (hence where my 1st name of "Chicken Well Eggs" came from) into a brooder nursery, bought some easter egger and polish chicks and brought the Coop De Ville BACK TO LIFE!
