Forget dog days of summer, how about cat days?! 😺
It's sure been some hot days lately but farm work still goes on, no matter the weather. Lately it's been getting up extra early to get the girls milked before it's sweltering. This heat is exhausting. Fall 🍁 will be welcome!!
Despite heat and school starting, Saturday market is still hopping! Thank you! Come see us again tomorrow, Sat for the Trussville Farmers market next to Ace Hardware, 8-12.
We are stocked back up on all cuts of beef and chicken as well as plenty of pork sausages and ribs. More cuts of pork, including chops and brats will be available next week. We also have some extra jars of our raw a2a2 milk available as well.
We will be at the market until Thanksgiving, and then go to our winter spot after that. (We are set up in. Trussville year round)
Or you can place your order online and pick up Tues at our Trussville pick up or have it delivered to your home!

Katie update and she's back to making dog treats!
Almost 1 month ago we were getting ready for Katie's second surgery. Over the past week or so she has really bounced back a lot andis starting to feel much more and act much more like her normal self.
Her post-op visit last week went well and all is healing up good. We will continue to have checks every 3 months to keep an eye on everything.

She's slowly going back to normal activities but does tire more quickly which is normal.
She is also back to making her nut-free, pumpkin dog treats and wanted to make sure I told everyone! So come on out to the Saturday Trussville farmers market tomorrow and grab some dog treats along with your farm fresh meat milk and eggs. We will also be stocked back up on our grass fed beef!
You can also order her dog treats online when you place your regular order as well!

Yesterday early morning, Dandy gave birth to a beautiful little heifer calf, unassisted!. New life, seeing new little calves never gets old! This is Dandy's second time calving. Last time we almost lost her. After a hard birth she lost the baby as well as pinched her leg nerves so she couldn't stand up. We had to use hip lifts along with other contraptions and lift her multiple times a day, because a cow left to lay too long will never get up, along with milking her when we lifted her.About 4 days later, we were so tired and about had given up and then came back later to find her in a different spot laying down. She had gotten up and moved! She had a long long road, but slowly became stronger and stronger! One thing all the attention did, is it made her very friendly! She became a perfect cow in the stanchion. Now seeing her have a calf , alive and a girl and get to be a mom this time, just makes a farmer happy. Little things. But big things to a farmer .
God cares about the big and seemingly little things. This new life was such a great end to a wirlwind couple weeks. It was like just a little note from heaven going, I see, I care, even about a cow!
The past couple weeks haven't been what I would have chosen at all. But what I do know is that God was there. The Sunday right before Katie's second surgery, God just gave me a peace, and a calm, I couldn't explain. So many people have been the hands and feet and have blessed us in so many ways, but especially knowing we have so many that love and care and have our back. Thank you!

Katie is slowly getting better and better every day. It's going to take a while to fully recover. She has bursts of feeling great and then just tires out.

But the good news, her pathology report came back confirming the initial results, grade 1, benign tumor. So thankful and thanking God! We will still be following up every 3 months for a bit and watching her. Maybe once we get cooler weather, she can come to market again.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day and weekend!
We are thankful to be home from the hospital! Katie is doing good, just pretty tired! Thank you for all your prayers, notes, cards and comments! I have tried to pass them all on to her.
Now for rest for us and her and continued healing with no complications!

Katie update on surgery #2.
We are in a room in ICU. And waking up more and more . Katie had some more pain this time and a little longer coming out of the recovery room. But all is good .
Good news!! Her surgery went well. Tumor was found this time and removed, he believes completely. Initial pathology indicates that it is probably benign. He called it a Low-grade glioma tumor. We will know for sure in 7-10 days. Of course they will once again do another MRI tomorrow to confirm removal.
Right now we just have the Neuro checks every hour all night and watching everything. She has already stood up and walked a little.
Thank you for all your prayers and continued prayers. Also a big thanks to those who once again came up and sat with us today! It was a long long day! From the time we arrived this morning, to time we got a room in ICU was 12 hours. Thankfully she got into her room with a few min to spare before visiting hours were over and the couple people still waiting with us for to tell her good night.
We have a wonderful night nurse. Thank the Lord. Now for some sleep.... 💤 Maybe!🤞🏼

However, we will NOT be at Leeds farmers market this Thursday , July 2.

Katie update, we will be going in for surgery #2 Wed morning. (They moved us from Tues to Wed. )
Thank you for all the notes everyone wrote for her Saturday at market! She enjoyed reading everyone of them! We appreciate all of you and your love, concern and prayers for all of us!

*Katie update**
Neurosurgeon called, they didn't get the tumor/nodule.😭 They were right next to it and got the fluid around it but not what they were wanting. We are going back on Wednesday 7/1, for round 2. Please lift Katie up in your prayers, this is hard for her to process. Please lift Bethany up in prayer, a mother's heart is breaking daily. Pray for me that I will continue to be supportive and patient, as I prefer actions and am having to sit and wait.

God has a plan and purpose for everything!!
