For people of the rescue community, and dog lovers even, or people who are just aware of the horror of the dog crisis. This is a really strong message. This is a statue that was put up in another country to “raise awareness” this speaks VOLUMES. The dog crisis that is going on at the moment is outrageous.

The amount of dumped, injured, abused, neglected and so much more to dogs is ungodly. It’s by your average public. It all takes place stemming from irresponsible owners. Whether these people get dogs from the shelter, a rescue, or a breeder. Some people are just ill intentioned, “can’t handle the stress” of a puppy or an adult/young dog, or for other reasons. Dogs are a lifetime commitment, they are a family member. They are so much more than just an item that is a statement. I can’t even say anymore “well would you give your kids up” cause that’s another story. People do that all the time as well.

The crisis we have going on with not just dogs but animals in general is disgusting, 100’s if not 1000’s of dogs, healthy dogs; with no underlying issues, no health concerns, no bite history, no nothing get euthanized everyday from being brought to the shelter as a stray or owner surrender simply at no fault of their own. So many animals, are failed by society.

I say this loudly, DO NOT GET AN ANIMAL, if you cannot afford it, if you cannot care for it, if you cannot devote your time, anything important. Get a goldfish. Rescues are overflowing, shelters are, THE STREETS ARE! Be responsible, even breeders are overflowing from getting their dogs returned to them from irresponsible people.

Our dogs are rescues, dogs that come from HORRENDOUS situations. Our dogs come from death row many times. They are with us until the end, or if there a foster until they can’t be with us anymore or have a better opportunity. Be responsible. Don’t do the things like this statue is showing you; the reality of the dog crisis.

This is the reality that is rescuers face DAILY, hear about hourly, and try to save by the deadline of a minute.

Hey Thompson Farmstead Fam!

Take a look at this little man! OH ISN’T Oso - just OH SO CUTE! 🥰 yeah, we think so too! So Fam, we need to find him a LONG TERM, COMMITTED foster, or even an adopter.

He will need your commitment to show him the world isn’t so scary! SO, if you can show him that or if you know anyone who can, reach out to The Misfit Dogs or Sarah Sierra or Brooke Raelyn Thompson for some information and to get you to the right place!

Let’s get him in a safe space for the holidays! He’s a sweet boy who just needs to be shown the way of the world!

He is timid with other dogs, he has NOT been cat tested, he NEEDS a quiet house. If you can provide these things. We can work to get him transported!

There is a great family at The Misfit Dogs, and they help along every adopter and foster families ways to pave the way to success. So if you are in the NJ, MD, or PA area and yourself or anyone is interested in taking this pretty boy on! Reach on out today!

GET TO KNOW OSO: We can only imagine the hard life Oso had before he arrived at the Misfit Dogs. Despite his name, Oso= bear, he is a very timid boy unsure of his surroundings.
WITH OTHER DOGS: Oso feels frightened of other dogs at the moment but does look to them as he cowers with some interest. He has not been cat-tested.
OBSERVATIONS: Oso will need a loving family prepared to give this sweet boy the time to come out of his shell. He is very gentle and has a lot of love to give. He would benefit from being placed with a family soon where he can have a quiet space to decompress. He is not aggressive at all and needs the kindness of a loving home to be the best pup he can be. The Misfit Dogs team will work with you to help ease Oso into family life.
STATS ON OSO:
Oso is 10 months old and about 40 bs. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and heart-worm negative.
