A message from our customer...
For as long as I can remember, I have loved horses. My parents told me I had to wait
until I was 12 years old to get one, and there was one condition: I had to pay for the
horse and tack myself. They would pay for the board.
After eight months of searching, in August 1976, I went to Townsend’s Training Farm,
where Mr. Townsend told me he had a horse he thought would be perfect for me. His
name was Banner. Banner was too laid-back and ..low for the lesson program, but he
was perfect for me.
I spent almost all my $150 savings on purchasing Banner, so I was thrilled when Mr.
Townsend also included a saddle in the deal. Caring for and riding Banner became the
highlight of my childhood. He gave me a cherished friendship, countless wonderful
experiences, and many important life lessons.
Fast-forward 50 years to August 2026. Once again, I found myself searching for my
perfect horse. And once again, Mr. Townsend had the perfect horse for me.
So, I was off to meet Sheldon.
I have always had tremendous respect for Mr. Townsend’s extensive knowledge of
horses and the trustworthy way he matches his horses with the right people. I have
always been an easygoing trail rider, looking for a horse to enjoy for pleasure. For me,
spending time at the barn and caring for my horse is just as important as riding.
Mr. Townsend knows that because he listens to people. He takes the time to
understand who they are, what they want, and what kind of horse will truly be a good
match.
Looking back, I really didn’t know much about horses when I purchased Banner from
Mr. Townsend 50 years ago. Today, I still don’t know everything—but I do know that I
trusted Mr. Townsend then, and I trusted him again 50 years later when I began looking
for another horse.
I am confident that Sheldon will be just as perfect a match for me as Banner was all
those years ago.
Thank you, Mr. Townsend, for connecting me with such wonderful horses—not once,
but twice, 50 years apart. Some friendships may last a lifetime, but the right horse can
become part of your story for generations.
I am incredibly grateful that my story with you, Banner, and now Sheldon has come full
circle.
