Mother’s Day offerings from our flower farm — 🌸
This year looks a little different. Spring was not great to the tulip crop, and I lost about 30% of what I planted. Field-grown tulips are always a gamble, but between the weather and some labor I could’ve done better, it’s a year we’ll just break even on them.
I’m giving myself grace though, as I was carrying a little life last season, and am in postpartum for this one. A lot of balls have been in the air with work tasks, but I feel great and am catching them one by one.
💐 Last year, after experiencing IVF to carry our friend’s son, I knew I wanted to gift tulips to fertility patients around Mother’s Day. I have spoken with many, both friends and strangers, about their frustration on the journey to motherhood. So, our fertility clinic will receive a donation of 25 small bouquets, to acknowledge those longing to celebrate this weekend.
🌼 This week will also be spent volunteering with Hearts in Bloom Buffalo, one of my favorite organizations. Catherine is one of the most lovely souls and I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering for her since she started her mission. This year, her organization has expanded to acknowledge grieving mothers. I can’t think of a more beautiful purpose.
🪻 My remaining flowers will be up at Craft Coffee House Saturday morning. There will be several bouquets and jars of our homegrown, safe-to-sniff Spring florals. You guys always sell me out so fast and I’m so, so, so, so grateful for that. 🫶🏻
🌷 Had I not lost so many tulips this year, I had dreams of a tulip bouquet bar at our farm. Picture you and your favorite flower-lover grabbing coffee and swinging by to browse a big, beautiful selection—choosing each stem to create the color palette of your dreams.
So, after ✨swearing✨ I was done growing tulips after this season,
I think I just need to plant more. 😉💐
