Mike and I traveled to Albany this week for ’s annual meeting and NY Senate Cider Day.
We often talk about how welcoming and supportive the cider community is and after spending the day with other cider makers, growers, industry partners, enthusiasts and state representatives we are leaving here even more grateful to be surrounded by these amazing people.
We want to highlight the team and board. NYCA president is truly one of a kind. His genuine care, thoughtfulness and focus to move this industry ahead is admirable. His ability to connect with people and work toward creating goals and making changes for the betterment of the cider community is incredible.
To our friends and , how lucky are we to have you two not only as friends, but also leaders in the cider movement here in New York. I’ve never met two more dedicated people who consistently talk, share and promote how “cool” cider is. Thank you for always brainstorming with us, coming up with plans for events and most importantly your support and friendship.
We enjoyed meeting and re-connecting with many of the board members whose knowledge and passion for the industry inspire us to continue to grow and learn more everyday.
There were a few people who we honestly could talk to for hours. Mike and I both joked that we didn’t want ’s talk on “apple thinning” to end. 🍎🍏
As always, a conversation with Ian Merwin from is an honor. The amount of knowledge he possesses is invaluable and we are always grateful for any and all input he can provide us to help become better growers and cider makers.
They both agreed to stop by our farm sometime soon and we are going to hold them to that :)
We have a bit more to share about the day, but for now we want to say thank you to all of YOU reading this. You are the ones that help us live out our dream of growing fruit we are proud of and producing cider that highlights the unique terroir of the Finger Lakes.
