Seven varieties of new-crop Pennsylvania apples have arrived - just picked, unwaxed, crisp as can be and lookin’ mighty pleased with themselves.

From left to right, meet the best-dressed bunch in the market: Gala, Honeycrisp, Autumn Crisp, Gold Fyre, Ginger Gold, Zester and Golden Supreme.

CLEAR THE COUNTER AND EMPTY THE CRISPER DRAWER - the Farm-to-Bailey’s came LOADED. 🚛🌽🍎🍑

It took its sweet time gettin here but apparently used every extra minute to gather up the good stuff.

First aboard: seven varieties of just-picked, new-crop, unwaxed Pennsylvania apples. Seven! All crisp, beautiful and exactly what an apple ought to be.

Summer refused to stay behind, so we’ve also got peaches, white and bi-color sweet corn, canning tomatoes, pink-eyes, white acres, butterbeans, Kirby cucumbers, tiny tender okra and three kinds of watermelon - Sugar Babies, Cracker Jacks and Starbrights.

Then fall started elbowing its way in with acorn squash, beet bunches, Swiss chard, spinach and a wet wall loaded with leafy greatness.

Add heirloom and tomatoes of every persuasion, and this is one good-lookin’ haul.

And yes, there are still muscadines, green peanuts, and so much more for you to discover!

This is no time to dillydally. Grab the big buggy.

The market is fixin’ to have a little identity crisis… and frankly, we support it! 🍉🍂

Snap green beans, tender okra, yellow crookneck squash, sweet twister peppers, Athena cantaloupe, Kirby cucumbers, peaches, watermelons and tomatoes are still tasting like summer. Gold Rush, black and gator plums are still piled up but their visit here is seasonal and some varieties are starting to fade out - don’t wait too long!

And THIS IS YOUR FINAL MUSCADINE WARNING. We’re on the last harvest of the season, so stock up for the jellies, jams and homemade wines - or just overdo it on the easy snacking. No judgement here.

Meanwhile, hearty root vegetables and fall squash are starting to creep onto the tables. Pears have joined the mix, and our new-crop, no-wax apples may be the best thing since sliced bread.

Speaking of sliced bread, don’t forget to grab your bread for the weekend. Nobody wants to wake up Sunday morning loafless…

The mushroom cooler is loaded back up with Lost Boy Mushrooms - including lion’s mane, blue oyster and more fungi than you can shake a skillet at.

Summer’s not finished, fall’s not waiting, and the market is lookin’ mighty fine in the middle.
