had to call 911 this past week. Sir Dave tried to climb out of his pen. I was alone, thank God I had my phone on me. He had his right foot all the was through and his left leg over the top with the ankle part stuck a little over the top. I give him an A plus for not freaking out, and tearing himself, possible breaking a leg. I knew he needed to be cut out. I could not hold him up and use bolt cutters. 911 what is your emergency?
Yes, I need help. My horse is caught in fencing and I am alone. I need bolt cutters and couple of strong guys to help please!!!!!
Help is on the way.
They were soooooo veeeerrrry kind to both the horse and myself! You can see in the pictures HOW they cut him out so he would not get cut up. They talked kindly to BOTH of us as I was a wreck.
I asked them what fire house they were in.
"the one across from Jim Boys on Elkhorn". I thanked them all the way to their vehicles. I told them I WILL be seeing them again. I am making my homemade salsa, several bags of chips and two gallons of my homemade sweet tea.
It is not two days later and Sir Dave did not walk away free as I thought. His whole left leg has swelling from the stress of it hanging over the fence. The good thing is NO broken skin. Just lots of cold water and powdered pain meds for his food. That was close. 911 guy told me, " We are here to serve! Even if it is you and an animal." They were so so so kind. I needed that. I did not need a lecture etc. Always grateful for them and their rescue. Cecilia
