Today was the final day of our 2026 Summer Camp Season, and what a season it was! The longest in our history. But also the smoothest overall- welcoming more than 80 kids and staff to your home every day has its challenges, but this Summer held A LOT of joy and funny moments. Today is also our SEVENTH anniversary of owning this Farm. And, I was thinking about the number seven. Perhaps I broke a mirror in the move or walked under a ladder because we certainly had seven years of some pretty serious bad luck. I told Eric that I am the same person I was in 2019, but also so very different. I definitely am older. My body is a bit broken. But I am much more confident in what is ahead. Because with the bad luck also came learning to ask for help. Learning to not sweat the small stuff. Learning how to do a lot of things I didn't know how to do because all of the money was going to paying debts caused by big problems. I made a lot of new friends and our clients are simply the best. We have so many more animals- and so many who needed us and in turn give us so much love. I learned to rely on twenty minutes and a cup of tea to reset my brain rather than to panic. I sit here tonight listening to the evening sounds at my window in a messy kitchen with an old cat trying to walk on my computer keyboard, and I am excited about the next seven years. Because I think today the curse came to an end- if you are into that superstitious stuff.
