On this day in 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed H.R 1337 which exempted beer brewed at home for personal use from taxation.

What better way to celebrate than brewing a new/modified beer recipe. While every other brewery is already talking about their winter and Christmas beer releases, SRBC is just getting around to a pumpkin beer to try and make fall last longer than a week.

After dumping last year's batch - which was brewed with a whole roasted pumpkin - we scaled back to a pumpkin puree to see if we have more success. With additions of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and pumpkin pie spice, the only thing missing is some graham crakers to make for a pumpkin pie beer.

We had to keep a watchful eye on the mash as the puree did slow down the recirculating water at times, but what we collected for fermentation smells incredible and has some great color to it.

Happy Homebrew Legalization Day!

Small venue, lots of fun yesterday Home Brew Festival featuring 6 brewers pouring some fantastic brews. From Stouts to Hefeweizen, hoppy beer to sweet beers, and everything in between, everyone covered a great spectrum of unique brews.

We got to pour alongside and once again as well as some of our NJ homebrew brothers in , , and . It was great to meet these brewers and try their stuff.

Those who came to support us and try our stuff brought the big beer fest energy in this small space - just look at the eyes of the overwhelmed Wyatt with all the people 🤣. We loved talking with so many people and appreciate the input on the SRBC brews.

Congratulations to Abyssal for winning people's choice yesterday. We look forward to trying your beers again sometime soon.

Congratulations to for winning best in show. Can't wait to see the cold IPA on tap at Newtown soon.

Speaking of bringing new brews. We will be from 1-5 PM tomorrow alongside 5 other homebrewers - including and - in a homebrew competition and festival.

Although not all our brews are new to the public, they are new recipes we tried this year.

Honey I Shrunk the Blueberries - our first go at a kolsch with a light sweetness from honey malt as well as blueberry honey from Swan's Honey in Albion, ME added at the end of the boil, this beer exudes sweetness from the first sip.

Saison de la Sorciere Noire (au praline noisette) - our black saison featured a few weeks ago. This sorciere has a few new spells adding notes of hazelnut and praline to the dark, rich, and spiced brew from a year ago when we first brewed it.

Ludicrously mild - a recipe we developed during Brewing Certificate program, this beer has all the rich flavors of a stout with a very light finish.

$10 to try these and all the other incredible homebrewed beers.

Structural engineer by day, brewer at night (and o-dark-hundred).

Glad to relive the great day of watching .lowest nearly 40 minute recap.

Here we are around the 23 minute mark between our figurative and literal homebrew brothers of and talking homebrewing, competitions, and misleading people about beers to be entered in competitions (sorciere blanche's darker sister sorciere noire was entered). Link in bio for full video.

This day was made incredible by the organizers, all the professional brewers we got to pour alongside, and the people in attendance. We love every minute of these events and always look forward to share our love and appreciation of the craft.

Looking forward to trying new recipes and bring new brews to events in the future.

Thank you for another great Homebrew Invitational and thank you for hosting the event this year.

We had a blast talking with everyone about our beers and getting great feedback once again on all our beers.

Congratulations and good luck to the SEPA winners in the championship this fall. Bring the title back to our region.

Carbonation done just in time for 4th and final brew we'll be pouring Homebrew Invitational TOMORROW . Our amber ale came out perfectly. And the name fit perfectly, as our head brewer is an engineer by day.

Like the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, it takes a little engineering to make a good brew. While dinosaur DNA came from mosquitoes trapped in amber, this amber is a little less complex to get the end result.

Brewed with carared and caramel malts, the DNA of this amber presents a rich and malty backbone with slight sweetness. The addition of cascade, centennial, and amarillo hops fill in the gaps to balance this amber for a delicate, easy drinking beer.

Next beer up SRBC will be serving Homebrew Invitational tomorrow .

This beer we talked about when we brewed it as our brew using - saison de la sorciere noire (season of the black witch).

What happens when a delicious, mild-mannered saison takes a turn toward the dark? A surprising, seductive sort of black magic we are proud to call Saison De La Sorciere Noire! This harmonious hybrid pours black as pitch but still sips with the complex, lightly spicy notes of a classic farmhouse ale...Just one that’s been brewed after lights-out to capture a rich and darkly delicious malt character, with barely a hint of roast.

This sorciere has a few new spells adding notes of hazelnut and praline to add another unique characteristic to this witchcraft.

Built using Deer Creek malts, this beer will get you ready to drink in the dark. The season of the black witch has cometh.

Another day, another brew to be featured Homebrew Invitational .

Today we present our dark mild, Ludicrously Mild, another beer we took to .

Delay after delay in getting this dark mild brewed, transferred, and carbed seems like a ludicrous tale of woe. Originally planned to be ready for the start of March Madness to ease the infuriation of multiple upsets by FAU and Princeton, this beer was well worth the wait.

Brewed with Chocolate Malt and Roasted Barley, this dark mild will have you laughing at how light and smooth it is, possibly saying it is absolutely ludicrous.

Stay tuned to find out what else we're bringing - next beer up will be a beer brewed specifically for this event.

After seeing pictures and videos from the past few festivals, we're extremely excited for our turn this week at the Homebrew Invitational . We can't wait to share and talk with craft brewers and drinkers alike. So we thought we'd take the time this week to share what we're bringing to the festival.

First up, our limited brew and fan favorite at , Rhymes with Doorhinge Trouble.

Did you guess what rhymes with Doorhinge Trouble? If you guessed Orange Dubbel, have yourself a beer. In particular, this orange dubbel.

A Belgian Dubbel without a deep dark maltiness. This beer is rich with caramel and orange sweetness and a full body that hides the 6.7% ABV very well. Notes of orange help to balance the banana flavor typical of the style while coriander helps lend to the bite typical of Belgian beers.

Be sure to stop by our table early for this one, this is sure to go quick and stay tuned to see what else is on tap this weekend.

We didn't take a lot of photos yesterday. We were too busy enjoying the great day at .

Despite heavy rain shortly after the beer fest started, we had a great time serving our beers and talking with everyone who stopped in.

Our orange dubbel - rhymes with doorhinge trouble - was the crowd favorite of what we brought. We struggled to get the carbonation right at home, only getting to a good point the morning of Lansdale beer fest.

We also want to welcome our first kid, Wyatt, who made a brief appearance before the event in his SRBC onesie.

Thank you and .for.life for having us back, we look forward to next year.

Also, be on the lookout for .lowest video on YouTube recapping the day.

Bringing a little professionalism to festivals from this homebrewer. Built a jockey box cover with SRBC logos painted on the sides.

Had a few hiccups while working on this, but overall we are excited to have ready just in time for . There's a few things we would improve in the future in the design to make it easier to open/close, but nothing we can't work with for the time being.

Best part, designed this to collapse and store flat at less than 8".

As we wait for the first addition to the SRBC family, we wanted to take a moment to announce that we will be pouring at the on 6/24.

We will be joining homebrewers and regional production brewers to in support of Knights 4 Life Foundation - which strives to improve quality of life for members of the community facing life threatening medical conditions and adversity.

This event was a blast to be at last year and we got to talk shop with several of the pro brewers and pick their brains about brewing.

Go to Lansdale Beer Fest's website to grab your tickets or keep your eye out for their pop-up ticket events at local breweries.
