If you've ever wanted to see the farm, our first Open House will be June 11, 2022! There will be 2 morning farm tours (9:30 and 11:00), a pizza lunch from our wood fired cob pizza oven and 2 afternoon tours (1:30 and 3:00). Tickets are for sale on our website:

We successfully completed our second biochar burn with the help of the KU Permaculture class (although I didn't get any pics of them) and made a LOT of char! It is also chestnut season so I picked about 60 lbs of chestnuts on Sunday. Now I just have to find some good recipes to use the bounty!

The oven base rises again! Third time is the charm, we hope. The outside ring is traditional cob and the inside is glass bottles with pearlite/clay slip filler to form an insulating layer. Once this dries for some days, we can do the heat sink and oven floor.

After 2 rounds of trying to go by feel from 10 years ago, we gave up and did test bricks to tell the right ratio of this...

After 2 rounds of trying to go by feel from 10 years ago, we gave up and did test bricks to tell the right ratio of this soil to sand and Clay to get a good oven mix. Once these dry, we should be able to tell the ratio we need.
