Today's employee spotlight is on Cara and Ricardo!

Cara Bronnenberg-Espinoza is an important part of the Spring Valley Honey Farms team. She helps with labeling and bottling honey, product development, creating new beeswax and honey products, marketing, social media, and helping wherever needed to keep the business running smoothly.

Her husband, Ricardo, manages our hives accross Iowa. His hard work is vital to maintaining strong, healthy hives.

Together, Cara and Ricardo are raising their five children—Cassius, Maximilian, Atticus, Galileo, and Arcadia—and enjoy being part of the continued growth and success of the family business.

Today we're celebrating all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

The ones who teach us how to work hard, lend a helping hand, solve problems, tell the best stories, and always show up when we need them most.

Much like the honey bees we care for, fathers help build strong families through dedication, protection, guidance, and love.

Whether you're spending the day in the bee yard, on the farm, around the grill, or surrounded by family, we hope your day is filled with laughter, appreciation, and a little sweetness.

Did You Know?

🍯 Honey is the only food that never spoils when stored properly!

Archaeologists have even discovered pots of honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that were thousands of years old and still perfectly edible.

Over time, you may notice your honey becoming thick, cloudy, or grainy. This process is called crystallization, and it's actually a sign that your honey is pure and natural.

✅ Crystallized honey is safe to eat
✅ It has not gone bad
✅ It still contains all the same natural goodness

To return honey to its liquid state, simply place the jar in warm water and stir occasionally. Avoid overheating, as excessive heat can damage honey's natural enzymes and flavors.

At Spring Valley Honey Farms, our honey is pure, raw, and minimally processed, which means crystallization is completely normal—and expected!

Breakfast of champions at Spring Valley Honey Farms! 🍯🍳

We forgot to snap a picture of the finished product, but this morning started with homemade breakfast sandwiches made with some of our favorite local ingredients:

✨ English muffins from Loafer's Mill
✨ Sausage from Old Station Craft Meats
✨ Graziano Brothers Pepper Jack Cheese
✨ Farm fresh eggs
✨ A drizzle of our Garlic Hot Honey
✨ And, for me, a splash of Wicked Ferments Hot Sauce hot sauce (because everything deserves a little spice! 🌶️ -Cara)

There's something special about starting the day with quality ingredients from local producers. Supporting local never tasted so good! ❤️
