A little Gray hope for the future! 🩶🐥 This little one has me excited to see how it grows out. I’ll be watching development closely over the next several months, with hopes of making it to the show tables this spring or the Fall of 2027. 🤞 🏆 There’s nothing like watching a tiny chick grow into a potential exhibition bird!

Growing out beautifully at Quirky Quills & Chicks Hatchery! 🐥✨ She’s from my Paint pen, but I’m definitely intrigued by her! I’m wondering if she may have been one of my little “whoops” chicks from when my Cochins and Paints were accidentally mixed. 🤔 Either way, I’m excited to see how she continues to develop! 🐣💕

This little Showgirl Silkie is coming along nicely and definitely knows how to pose for the camera! 🤎🤍 That bare neck, fluffy body, feathered feet, and splash of color make for one uniquely adorable bird.

Seeing her color, type, and personality really begin to show. She is very interesting growing out here at Quirky Quills & Chicks Hatchery LLC!

Testing appointments are available Saturdays and Sundays only.
I currently provide annual NPIP flock testing for existing NPIP-certified farms and NPIP testing required for poultry shows.
If you are seeking initial NPIP certification for a new farm, I am not accepting new farm certifications at this time. I am happy to refer you to another certified NPIP tester to complete your initial certification.

Testing appointments are available Saturdays and Sundays only.

If you are seeking initial NPIP certification for a new farm, I am not accepting new farm certifications at this time. I am happy to refer you to another certified NPIP tester to complete your initial certification along with Clemson University. Once your farm is NPIP-certified, I can provide future test and test any birds that need to be added to your NPIP flock that are not NPIP before they are introduced.

To help your appointment run smoothly, please have all birds caught and securely caged before arrival, or have enough assistance available to safely catch birds during the testing process.

This isn’t my usual happy, cheerful post.

Today was one of the hard days that come with raising poultry. I lost two of my Houdans, and it definitely is discouraging. 💔 I am grateful to still have my other 3 girls but it does suck that Roo & Pearl had to leave them.

Anyone who raises birds knows that you invest so much more than time and money, you pour your heart into them. Especially when it’s a breed you raise to show. Every breed has its own personality, and every loss leaves an empty space in the coop.

Fly high, sweet Houdans. You’ll be missed. 🖤🐔

Can we take a moment to appreciate these gorgeous little fluff balls? 😍 The rich chestnut, gold, and black coloring of the Partridge Silkie variety is absolutely stunning!

From their poofy crests to their fluffy feet, these sweet babies are strutting around their run like they own the place, and honestly, they kind of do! 😂🤎

Looking forward to watching their chicks grow and hopefully make it to show season. ✨

The grow-outs are finally moving in with the big Buffs! 🍊🐓
